Slug & Lettuce - Croydon

3rd time lucky trying to order food here. This time they had a very limited food offer considering they had none last 2 times. Food arrived with no cutlery as "it hadn't been washed". Air con was not working either. Drinking glasses were absolutely filthy. The place was empty, Food was hot when it arrived but tasted bland and also took over a hour to come. Once arrived the salad was wilted/ dry and chicken was burnt tuff and vile. Would not recommend this place at all.

Just over a year ago I came here on a date. Must have been a good experience because just over a week ago we returned there for a celebratory wedding lunch after our wedding with 28 of our closest family and friends. We found staff friendly and helpful both times. Menus are clear, prices are good, decor is nice. Our wedding lunch service was a little slow because the chef who was going to be dealing with us was off sick, but I think they recovered really well and our drinks were certainly on time! We had a fantastic wedding day.

Honestly the decor is cool and I see the appeal of the place. But the cocktails are pretty overpriced for little spirits and a lot of sugar. Thankfully we were there during the 2 for 1 cocktails (*as long as they were the same cocktail for both). If you like fruity sweet drinks then this is the place, they were tasty but not my cup of tea.

Good place for cocktails and mocktails. There were 2-for-1 mocktails on offer and gave them a try. They were good.

Serving staff were professional.

Came for Saturday lunch. Decor and atmosphere inside very nice amd welcoming. Drinks (2 for1) Came very quick after doing order via an app. Been waiting 45minutes for food (ordered 3 small plates,side and 1 main) which was bit longer then expected but in given time food did arrived. Food was lovely except calamari which been very hard and dry,more breadcrumb then actual calamari. Katsu carry is the one to 100% recomend. Small note on loo- very clean and also cool decor but on so many cabins I found paper in 1 or 2 only so could pay bit more attention to that

Ordered 3 pots of teas tray was bought over 2 tea pots , 2 jugs of milk
No sugar no saucers
When we pointed out that we had Ordered 3 teas ... we was asked oh did you want 3 teas !!
A dirty cup was delivered with a tea bag in half a cup of water !
Sugar was finally delivered in sachet
My husband asked for a vodka and coke .. thankfully he checked about coke ... as they had diet
He then asked for a red bull
Waitress came back and said you are only allowed wine or cocktail...
We explained that he didn't drink that , said we would pay for vodka and red bull , which he did..
Vodka was bought over but no red bull!!
When he asked where is red bull..same Waitress asked did you ask for red bull 🙄
She actually took the money for this !!
Then asked for menu as there are different sandwiches
Was told there aren't any!!
I pointed out we don't eat pork
Was told that there is only one chef
What does that have to do with knowing what you will be served!!
I have never met such a unhelpful woman in my life!!
I explained that it was a birthday tea for a little girl.. who was so looking forward to it!!
Woman blamed booking for not asking what menu we wanted!!
Told us to get a refund!
When we went to get refund, she was on phone tapping till
Ignoring us !!
When she finished told me she can't give refund as it will come from booking!!
The young guy Harrison was trying his best!! But this woman had the attitude of I couldn't care less
We left and went for a meal elsewhere

Solidly average experience on a Saturday night. Kitchen was closing at 8p (maybe for a special event), multiple dishes were not on the app’s menu, and the food was extremely varied on quality. (Good jackfruit tacos, terrible side vegetable dish for example) Service was good/fine though - no complaints there!

Given this is one of my locals, I’m really disappointed to leave one star review and hope this review helps you to provide a better all around offering.

I ordered food and one time around the chips were so undercooked they were also frozen. I asked for the dish to be cooked again, it came back and the Scampi was undercooked and cold. I’m so disappointed now and doubt I would come back here to eat. On top of this the place is quiet so I can’t even defend the chef and say they were inundated with orders.

Regrettably if you are reading this I would suggest you find somewhere else to eat and drink I.e Wetherspoons on George Street or Milan Bar.
