Slug & Lettuce - Woking

Booked a table (with a required £20 deposit) for pre theatre meal on Friday evening. Arrived half an hour before booking, which was lucky given the amount of time we waited for our meals. The poor girl who served us at the bar was clearly on her first shift and didn’t know a thing (and didn’t have any help from her co workers) After being told they didn’t have either of the drinks we ordered and us having to point to them in the fridge for her, she charged us twice, all of which was forgivable under the circumstances. We were then told where our table was, which was so sticky we found the spray and blue roll and cleaned it ourselves, stuck some cardboard under the leg to steady the wobble looked over the menu. Once decided (I hadn’t realised how limited the menu was) my daughter went to the bar to order. 50 mins later we were presented with our food (no cutlery as yet). As you can see from the photos, my £10.95 Cheese & Bacon Burger ( I had asked for no bacon) arrived looking no better than a kids ‘happy meal’. There was a half filled cup of chips and a burger with barely any of the advertised fillings. My daughters meal was more substantial but lacked the advertised bbq sauce so once the waitress came back with our cutlery a few minutes later, we asked for the bbq sauce and some ketchup. We were then given a few sachets of cheap catering tomato sauce and left to it!! Awful food, awful service and awful venue! Never again!

One of Woking’s best bars by far and certainly the friendliest and most excellent staff. Simple, does what it says on the tin, live coming here.

Personally for me it will not be a choice to go to eat, my experience here wasn't the best I ordered a cheese and bacon burger with fries sadly the burger was raw and was pink inside my partners wasn't and one of their colleagues burgers was raw too as he had cooked too many. Nobody came and asked if it was all okay baring in mind it wasn't, so I had to say it wasn't cooked the chef's comment was it was the right temperature when checked I would like better knowledge knowing the burgers will not be pink again baring in mind it may be the right temperature but still can be pink inside also the chips were a bit dry definitely have to have sauce with them.

The lady Paris who was serving us our drinks throughout our service at the Woking branch was brilliant! Her customer service is amazing and would give her a 10/10. It’s lovely to have a friendly face whilst enjoying birthday celebrations

Maybe fine for just a drink but we ordered food (subs/wraps and a few burgers). The girl behind the bar looked bored and disinterested but told us there might be a wait for our food. However we didn’t expect it to be over an hour and one of us waited 1.5 hr for a wrap so we ended up leaving and cancelling that order. When we complained we were told they were sorry but they had been so busy - there was hardly anyone in there! To be fair, they did give a few that waited a long time a free drink but it’s really not good enough. Either serve good food with a good service or stick to just drinks

We have had the best birthday afternoon brunch today and Paris has been Incredible, she is amazing, only a few weeks into her new job and she's absolutely smashing it. What a credit to slug and lettuce!! Thank you so much

Amazing bar staff! Kieran was especially helpful and really lovely. All round friendly staff.. lovely place to enjoy cocktails with the girls as there is so many choices to chose from! 😊

Nice atmosphere. Good food (order at the bar), but at 9pm they were out of Fish & Chips. The DJ played good music but the dance floor was tiny (didn't stay late enough to see what happens late at night, so as far as I know the whole place might be hopping). Overall, recommended!
