Well...a bit disappointing. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, the 2 shop assistant ladies (1 turkish and 1 romanian...no hungarian in a hungarian pastry shop?) were kind but did not have much knowledge about the products. The place was empty, there was only one customer beside me-he was just leaving. So...I bought a piece of cake with chestnut. The cake itself tasted like coffee and it was only sprinkled with chestnut...and did not taste fresh at all. For £3.50 I would call it mid-priced but should have been more fresh.

Excellent hot chocolate and cake on a cold dark winter's day. Staff are polite and helpful taking care of the both the bakery customers at the front and seated cafe customers behind the bakery. There is a risk that the staff can become busy both manning the shop front and the cafe area. The decor has not been modernised to twenty - first century. This is part of its charm and character. It does what it does rather well and has stood the test of time. People can recall visits when they were kids a generation or two back. Worth a visit.

Really really friendly staff! The eggs are beautifully cooked, and the sour dough is also the best choice of the day. Simply tasty! We enjoy very much of our coffee too. Def will come back!

Well deserving of five stars. Friendly, efficient staff and this place has been going from 1963. The patisserie are magnificent......I think a jewel of a place. Not for private meetings but great for food and atmosphere......

I bought a savoury pastry and a sweet one. The sweet one was average, the savoury one very bland, I couldn't finish it.

Also, the staff need training. After waiting for minutes for the pastries I ordered to be (very slowly) wrapped, so that I can pay and leave, another customer came in, probably someone they know, so they stopped wrapping my cakes and started serving the new customer and came back to me only after they were done with her.

Not going back, there are enough good patisseries in the area.

I ordered a Matcha Latte and got a warm cup of milk, no matcha inside. The staff seemed nice but can’t recommend the place as I spend almost 4£ on a cup of warm milk.

Average pastries at expensive prices - £3.60 for a strawberry doughnut with a tiny amount of dry tasteless jam filling. Coffee wasn't great either. There's also no toilet in this cafe despite there being space for around 15 people to eat in.

A remnant from pre-swinging Sixties London retains a low-budget period décor from a bygone era, reimagined as a whisper of elegant Austro-Hungarian émigré café society.
But that was then; what lingers here is dated rather than venerable.
Now find an indifferent dabble of pastries, cakes, buns and breads, teas and coffee.
Out of time, out of touch and outmanoeuvred by a bevy of local competitors and wannabes but somehow, possibly all the better for it.
