Worst experience ever, from beginning to end! At the beginning, teachers' gave lectures for the first couple of weeks to keep students satisfied. Then as we settled in, we were left on our own, expected to get on with our own work without a lecture. Teachers' would run after students' who didn't bother turning up to lessons and forget about those who wanted to aim high! Poor teaching!! Don't even know how these people teaching can have a status of a teacher when they fail to explain something students struggle to understand! The whole year students' who submitted work on time and were prompt to lessons were not respected as you would have thought submitted work would have been marked on time and given back on time for improvements to be made, but NO! Everything on the teachers' behalf done to the last minute, even results at the end of the year were given late- and that too not by the tutors'; students' had to contact the college and some how find their way through of getting their results to inform universities. Absolutely useless!! A typical college really where most students mess around for fun and attention, and teachers' have a bad reputation of being careless, disrespectful and disorganised! Many students' on totally different courses have had experienced bad teaching and were not at all pleased with the college! Worst of all, the college of 4000-5000 students' have one person to help with UCAS application!!! Would NOT recommend the college to anyone, instead stay away from it! Feel deceived as the college induction day all tutors and teachers' made the college seem good and attractive. So very upsetting that a place of education can be so deceiving- teachers' leaving instantly without notifying students' so again we were left hanging off a thread to understand what we needed to do to complete the course. Teachers' careless about students' potential especially those who are able to aim high but need guidance. Teachers' not owning up to their own faults; instead throwing it on to students' - how immature can a grown individual get?! Shame that the reputation of the college is so very poor, worst than other countries with minimal resources, yet the money put in to build the place is immense and the place does look very pleasing. Just speaking the truth of what had been experienced by many students' at north herts college. Would recommend the college take these reviews on board to improve their reputation in the country because looks of a college don't last forever!!!

I did an Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science at NHC. Finished in July, 2015.
I found the course content was delivered really well by the teachers, There are lessons for independent learning which are useful for students that just want to get on with their assignments. The teachers are friendly and sociable. As an older than average student at this college, i was more independent which is probably why i thrived and succeeded here.
Qualified with a triple distinction, thanks to the help and guidance from tutors.

Had the best two years ever at this college studying travel and tourism.

Great environment very modern and nice atmosphere

Tutors are helpful, courteous and polite.

Despite teacher changes we all got through

Very enjoyable time here
Hope to be back soon studying HE here

If you want good teaching, industry links involved within the course and a modern college then NHC is the place to go

Hitchin Campus. I really wish I could rate lower.

Very disappointing. No different to any other educational facility. A complete failure to students and parents.

Teaching Staff and Principal make promises to students they do not intend to keep, not even make a call when they say they will!

SEN worker who has no real idea about SEN.

Student Support staff are amazing, unfortunately they can’t provide the education that is paid for.

As a parent I do not recommend sending your loved ones here and certainly do not pay for a course it is a waste of money!

I personally have hated most of the experience that I have had at this college teachers keep going in and out of the class expecting us to finish the work on are own when other students need help, the assignments they set you don't make any sense and no matter how many times you submit and resubmit your assignments there was always something to moan about by the teachers they were never happy with anything and if you couldn't answer a question the teachers would lecture you on why you couldn't answer their question even if you didn't have a clue. Also teachers have moaned about us students being on are phones and I have caught 2 teachers being on there phones. One of them always had a text or a phone call but did go out of the class when she had a call and one of them was playing a game on his phone while we were presenting are power point for one of are assignments. One of the teachers in my class was talking about a student when he wasn't in and he was saying to a ALS support how good he was last year and ended up calling him lazy. Also teachers used to moan about us being late, some of us were late for a actual reason like being stuck in traffic or the travel was late but keep thinking it was an excuse but when students turn up on time the teachers were always 5 to 10 minutes late.

Julie is great. She is a very hard worker and head of the Access department. I was a student and achieved a place at a Russel group uni because of the amazing job her and the other staff do.

If you put in the work they will give you the opportunity to succeed.

I am doing a 2 week course learning hospitality skills. The college is easy to navigate and accessible to wheelchair users. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Halfway through my apprenticeship. It’s all been over teams, due to covid but my tutor Steve has been incredibly supportive and is there to help with anything I need.
The other tutors I’ve come into contact with have been great too.
