Doing 5 Star so this can be seen by all, This College/University have absolutely terrible communication, and they refuse to help you throughout the course clearly picking by out favourites in the class. They have zero care for helping those with mental health issues and it’s instead like to say ‘that’s life get over it’ when you gain courage to actually speak up about it. They then unjustly fail you after they refuse to help in anyway shape or form even higher up side with their colleagues instead of listening to the student. Their student councillors do the one session and even if you book another session they don’t make one and you hear nothing back from them.

If you are looking to go here I’d 100% not recommend I’d suggest looking into other other places such as Newcastle where the teachers actually care and know what they are doing.

We are a small shop selling books. The New College Durham ordered from us books twice, and both times claimed they have not received them. Despite having Royal Mail tracking confirming the books were delivered and getting a POD from Royal Mail, they still asked for the refund. Not sure what sort of values a place like this can teach to their students.

Absolutley appalling. Vice Principal very unprofessional and definitley combative in his nature and approach to parents. Wouldnt send my dog here .

STAY AWAY!!! Please do not go here. The staff are very unkind and mean and when you raise any concerns or make complaints they are not taken seriously. They are enrolling students onto degree courses that they know will not pass, but they want bums on seats and the 10 grand a year. A high percentage of students have to resit and waste their student finance on a career they will never attain. It is a very corrupt practice. My life has been a complete nightmare attending this college and has led me to some very severe mental health episodes. They take zero accountability for their behaviour and instead inform you that no one likes you so shut up. They speak to adults like they are children and claim this is necessary for classroom management due to ''inappropriate behaviour''. Please if you like yourself in anyway do not attend and go to a real university!!!

Disappointing!
I was expecting a college salon with trainees to be quite professional but unfortunately, on this occasion, that wasn't the case.
The salon isn't cleaned properly; there was lots of hair on the floor, at various stations, & this when they'd just started for the day. There was a big hair clip on the floor, tucked in to the wall.
The trainee that did my roots gave me the impression she was brand new; no chat, extremely gentle. Turns out she was level 2 but she didn't use enough dye to cover the grey.
She told me she'd check the dye in 15 minutes but that didn't happen. 45 minutes later a different student washed and dried my hair.
Water was not warm but the student had lots of personality.
No supervisor to check the dye job (colour match was good but there's lots of grey showing through), no supervisor to check the blow dry; no supervisor to ask about my experience /take feedback. No-one asked about the patch test before beginning either.
I was left to my own devices after the grown was removed & I stood waiting to pay for a few minutes.
I wasn't impressed but wonder if it's different with different staff/tutors... Not sure I'll return to find out.

I don't rate it sadly, apart from a tutor or 2. It's the lack of communication & lack of support that let us down - these things are vital & even more so if you have a child with extra needs... I wouldn't recommend this college if you have a child with autism... I'd recommend Derwentside College instead! much more supportive!

Visited with my son as he's starting in September. It's a huge place and was spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Looks like a great place to further your education.
