Girlfriend spent two years here to not be allowed to do level 3. Reason behind this is because she does not have maths and English gcse but has been stuck doing level 1 maximum for 2 years. Now I study programming at university with advanced mathematics courses. She is more than capable to have been studying for GCSE. Also they refused to run dyslexia tests until she was put in for gcse which didn’t happen. Did not follow any health plan for her disability that they have been informed about for 2 years multiple times. Don’t actually have qualified maths and English teachers on site but offer the course. Often using stand in teachers who are lazy. Refuse students for gcse because of amount of people on gcse instead of hiring more staff or actually qualified staff which by law they have to run the course or multiple maths and English GCSE to provide it for all students. Do not send your children here! Also the response from the guiandance counseller was pathetic to answers to any questions and took over a month wasting more time. Ruined 2 years of a girls life to make more money rather than provide what tax payers are paying for when students get educated.

Took my Daughter to enrol very simple guidelines to find out where to go. Staff were very helpful. Cleaning seats and tables before you sit in them. Cant fault the place.

Attended open morning for my daughter to see courses available. A very well kept site, clean and tidy. Beautiful grounds and surrounding countryside. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely to see the animals cared for there. Excellent.

We're not exactly helpful, do miss some staff here however.... they did not allow me to choose courses being here, constantly made excuses up and caused problems for students, 0% help when moving on and left.

Will sorta recommend going here for being free-ish, just the staff are kinda all over the place, environment is nice, about a 15 minute walk into Durham City and has beautiful walks/routes!

Will not be returning since older, wiser and have work experience that trumps any certificate here, better off working when you can, then ditch the place lol.

R.I.P the staff who passed away during the years of 2020 and 2022, will always be remembered and in the heart of other former students.

I originally gave a bad review after my son struggled to settle in at first with a few boys making it hard for him… but after speaking to his teachers they have been brilliant at handling it and it has all stopped, my son is now very happy and settled attending everyday with no problems.. Thank you

I have went here to do animal care in foundation levels. While the environment is lovely and that friends is nice. There was quite alot of bullies. The corse had nothing to do with animal care. All wr did was gardening and seethe chickens. Did not meet my needs. Teachers at times were rude and ignorant. Not saying all of them. There were a small amount of beautiful and lovely teachers.
Some. However I must admit. Forced to to the farm when I am deathly afraid of pigs and put me with pigs. And the same teacher compared me with her 5 year old child.
Look. Houghall. I do recommend getting teachers who actually wanna try their best. I'm not saying all.
And I do miss a few teachers. One being my own who had retired. And prays to the ones who had passed away.
