Esher College has a brilliant policy of only talking to one parent. Fantastic, you can completely exclude your ex-husband from finding out anything about how the kids are doing. All single mums pile the kids in to Esher College! Quick, they boast they are not a school, so not bound by any laws at all. If you ask, they really love this policy. Me too.

I spent a considerable amount if time looking for a sixth form college or school for my daughter and weighed up tbe merits of state v public. Part of my criteria was A level results. Many schools disguise results in a A* to B band. Esher provide a breakdown and there is a reason for this. For a mixed ability sixth form their results are outstanding. You can get other schools to break A level results down but jt may take a few emails. Also as the teachers are just teaching 16 to 18 year olds they have to have ability at this level. Whereas in many other schools they will teach a range of 11 to 18 year olds.

Nothing has been giving to the sixth form students to learn at home e.g home learning pack or a short assignment weekly related to their subjects. I know that exam has been cancelled but during the lockdown, the colleges' could setup a weekly task. Therefore by now student would have learned a lot of information instead of wasting time on gaming or worrying about thier futuer! If a nursery and reception classes are getting a home learning pack from their school in such a young age why not 16+ student? I thought this is a failure of colleges. I hope they don't misjudge in predicting student's final score for university now!

The teachers are great, most of them almost become your friend through their engaging teaching and ability to be there for you. You call teachers by their first names, and I think that brings a level of respect to the relationship. Much respect for Dan!

Watch out for the chaotic course allocation process which is not fit for purpose. 2 days before term started my daughter was offered none of the 3 subjects that her application 12 months previously was based upon. After much negotiation we were offered 1 of the 3 subjects. Very disappointing.

Wow, with a surge of 17 (out of 19) gushing reviews by pupils in the past lockdown year, one could assume all is well. But Esher College does not appear on Ofsted’s Parent View (the on-line tool that Ofsted uses to gather parents’ views about schools) and boasts "OFSTED OUTSTANDING" on its web site, despite the last inspection being 2008 and the Academy has never been inspected at all. Indeed the new academy Trust has indemnified employees and governors against e.g. "reckless disregard", and "any rule of law" with respect to "any neglect, breach of trust or breach of duty". Perhaps the pupils are not bothered by this.

A shambles of an admission process. Daughter missed out on 2 of her subjects, owing to their allocation system, and now is left without a place elsewhere. Also very disconcerting to see the number of 'road men' students just hanging about taking drugs outside. Wish we'd done our research.
