My sons experience at oaklands for horticulture was terrible. The tutors are verbally and physically abusive toward students and department managers just want to protect the staff. The first complaint I put in got ignored and then it escalated to a physical assault to which they suspended my son and allowed a bully tutor to continue working . The college ignore its own safe guarding procedures to protect themselves and only genuinely care about receiving funding. Please..if you genuinely care about your child's best interests then I would advise you not to send your child here as the staff and tutors will gang up to protect each other and have zero regard for your child's education or well being and will drag any complaints out until term finishes so they don't have to deal with it.

Most painful year of my life!
Made absolutely no friends found most of the students rude and impolite I witnessed spitting swearing an all sorts- was bullied on occasion.
When I went to report the bullying incident the staff member who was dealing with it was cold as ice and I'm sure it seemed like she was laughing at me under her breath - shockingly cold and nasty.
I found some of the staff rather condescending, patronising and a rude(talk down to you)
Diabolical I will be glad to see the back of it soon!!!!
Made me cringe such an odious environment.
Felt I've lost my mind being here.
Not enjoyed it at all felt i really had to bite my lip on a few occasions.
Did a catering course and I did not like it at all.
I'd get home tired and grumpy every day.
Was told off for forgetting my hair net in the kitchen when the member of staff who told me off was never wearing one.... hows that fair ?
Kitchens were really mucky after a service, some of the students dont seem to understand hygiene.
Noticed general unfairness, contradictory and like staff telling the students not too swear but I heard the staff swearing enough times.
I can remember on one occasion overhearing a member of staff saying out loud how he cant stand students as I was right behind.
Few good things:
Adequate number of bins
Some staff were good.

After enrolling for A level, they emailed my daughter two days before starting that they are not doing that subject my daughter wants to do .how disappointing it was.she got stressed out.because that’s the one college was seems decent college and it was her first on the list.such a stressful time it was and what a waste of time. Now for a decent college she is travelling Luton to London just for that .very unorganised

Niece went to the open day at the Welwyn Garden City campus and was very shocked at how disorganised the staff was. They kept blaming it due to staff shortages but even when the staff were responding the peoples questions they were very unhelpful and very much not really interested in anything.

While attending Oaklands college, I must say they were the best days of my life.
From the unhelpful staff to the rude students. Oaklands is the perfect place for you. Do you like feeling confused? Well I have just the place!
Despite all its wrong doings, I met the love of my life here Gertrude Shinglebe. She wasn't a student but she camped in the bushes on the walk up to the campus. Her stench was compelling, the twigs and dirt that engulfed her hair was mesmerising. It took me a while to approach her but I knew I'd regret it if I didn't... So I did, I told her I loved her from the moment I saw her glaring at me from the tree line, she blushed and told me she had been waiting for my confession for a few months now. We've been dating for 3 days, 16 minuets and 36 seconds... I couldn't be happier. Thank you Oaklands for bringing me my boompa. But not so much for the intense stress and pain this college inflicted on me... It was worth it for my little Gerty *blushes*

I do not recommend the art course at this college. They don't actually teach you how to improve your drawing skills and artistic skills in general, they more or less just expect you to figure it out on your own. At one point, one of the teachers on the course actually asked me if I was studying YouTube tutorial videos on how to draw, and I was just like... hang on a second, teaching me how to draw is your job, not YouTube's, the fact that the staff here except the students to do their jobs for them is very telling of how qualified the staff here actually are. Furthermore, we were also given this thing called Moodle, where you check updates on the course and submit work, however it was very confusing to use and the teachers didn't actually teach how to use it, so once again, we were just expected to figure it out on our own, but most of us didn't, and the teachers admitted they didn't know how to use Moodle themselves either, which is extremely telling. Some of us were not able to progress over to Level 2 art, even though we passed 100%, and their explanation was that we didn't have enough "honors" or "distinctions" and when I asked what they were, they couldn't even explain it, which doesn't even make any sense. I am giving this review an extra star because the staff were at-least nice and polite, the students were civil and well behaved and not disruptive and we were able to do artistic stuff such as clay modelling, drawing, painting and such, but other than that, the people in charge seriously need to consider making improvements to the art course.

Potholes and unnecessarily aggressive speed bumps in the drive way aggravate me hugely on every visit.

Speed bumps are good but these ones are horrible and to steep. Even at very low speeds, are extremely jarring. They are worse than speed bumps on public roads.

They didn't have 'enough people' for my course I signed up to so I was forced to do a whole different course. Teachers didn't care a single bit about the students. most staff especially reception staff where utter rude. very bumpy roads and too many pot holes in the road! Other than that, good course works and college supplies, also a very chilled relaxed college to make friends.
