Finlay Community School

My son goes here for Preschool. It breaks my heart that due to the amount of siblings starting reception next year it's extremely unlikely he will get the chance to stay. But marvellous teachers. He's been there 3 months, his vocabulary has more than doubled, his phonics and reading has gone from zero to a great start, and he can now count to 21- he's only 3 and a half. Excellent progress as a result of excellent teaching. He's had some "refusing to share" issues as a result of being an only child and the teachers quickly developed a programme specially for him to focus on those needs with my inclusion. If we don't get to return in September I'll be devastated but always grateful for what they've done for my son
Also the nativity play was just about the best thing I've ever witnessed

All my children have attended this school. The staff are amazing and my kids love going to school here

Both my sons attend this school and I’m really impressed. Almost 2 years ago we moved up from London and I wanted to get my sons into this school as I’ve heard lots of good things about it. I went into reception with my boys and talked to Debbie and asked her if there were any spaces left fir my kids. She took me down to meet some of the teachers and one of the teachers said there was spaces left. This was a huge relief for me. I signed them both up there and then and even bought their uniforms etc
Very friendly and approachable staff. Both my sons have come on so well and made lots of new friends. Their teachers are amazing and great with communication.

Still at preschool

Receptionist has a terrible attitude

I’m 4 mins early before bell

I ask if they can take my child in (I have an emergency but she was so full of attitude and didn’t even ask )

Tells me no , doesn’t even acknowledge my daughter may I add is a beautiful shade of brown

Tells me to walk her around the outside which would take 6-7mins and the gate locks in 4 ?

I tell her not to be so awkward she slams the glas huffs and rolls her eyes

Another mum comes. In white child blonde curly hair

And right away it hello sweetheart

I will walk you in I am going that way anyway

She comes out the door

Looks at the white child and says come on sweetheart

Then looks at us after who were there first with disgust and says to MY child

Come on then in a totally different tone

I told her how she received my daughter differently

And I left I’m sure she said more than enough about me when I left

I am really concerned leaving my child here in September and will be viewing very closely that she is equally included and spoken to the same way as the other girls

Not just cuz she looks different

And they always play the I ain’t racist card

But your eyes.

Your demeanour

Your vibe

Your spirit screams it all

Eeeww I was literally disgusted.

I go to school here and it is absolutely amazing!
