Come on, get out of yout Hilton or Travel Inn "box" that looks exactly like the last one you stayed in. Ok this place takes a bit more effort and imagination but look at what you get, own apartment with DVD tele, kitchen, bathroom (shower) and bedroom. you may have to cook your own breakfast or get a take away in but you are situated right by a lovely lake you can fish on if that sort of thing takes you, alternatively, just look at it, like most fishermen seem to do anyway. Brilliantly silent at night too and you have very little chance of getting woken by the "2am phantom furniture mover" that seems to frequent the same hotels I do.

Amazing chalet, had the large 1 but cant remember the name! Cant fault it. The only issue was the otters constantly annoying me and the carp!! Found few dead and most i caught had chunks missing or old wounds! Definately needs an otter proof fence

This is our ninth stay at Lower Lakes over the last 6 years and it was just as relaxing as ever.
We chose this location as both myself & my husband love to fish but we also wanted somewhere that was quiet and dog friendly. We have stayed in most of the lodges over the years but tend to favour Birch as it is perfect for two people and comes complete with a hot tub!
Lower Lakes has changed over the years adding new lodges, a beautiful reception area overlooking the smaller Iris Lake and free wi-fi in all the lodges. All of these improvements have been a welcome addition to an already beautiful venue.
As previous reviewers have mentioned there was more development work being carried out when we were on site in August but it was all very well organised (no early more wake up calls!) and necessary. After a quick chat with the Owner we discovered they were having to put in flood defences as a precautionary measure which was unavoidable due to the 2013/14 floods of the Somerset levels. As we spent most of our days fishing various swims around the lake it had no impact on our holiday.
We always enjoy the fishing at Lower Lakes, whether its catching a net full of silvers on the meadowside bank on a sunny afternoon or a lazy day spent at the bottom of the complex playing beautiful carp on the pole - we never fail to catch! This visit yielded over 50 carp over the course of the week - all of which were in tip-top condition!
We have booked to return in October this year for a long weekend, we would thoroughly recommend Lower Lakes!

Google Maps review policy seems to be a lot more basic than their search algorithms are.
For the record I do not and will not submit reviews under the following circumstances:

2. If my visit occurred over 1 month ago;
3. If I only passed by a place and didn't actually visit;
4. If I only obtained directions to a place using google maps but have not actually visited the destination. After all what is the value in a fictitious review and lets face it Google tracks our location more efficiently than MI5 or GCHQ and should therefore know that I haven't visited the destination in question;
5. If the place in question is a chain or franchise operation that can be found in more or less the same form in many locations in the UK or indeed the world. There is little point in providing lots of detail about something people can find anywhere on their High Street; and
6. If the place is my place of work or a commercial premises that I have visited in the course of my work.
Lower Lakes falls into categories 2 and 4 and as such does not benefit from a review or my time in preparing one, this standard text is provided simply to dismiss Googles repeated requests for me to submit a review.
