Tragic ! Three service points, one for the "Post office" (which in itself is extremely poor), But only two staff on duty one senior that runs the post office and the Mcolls till next to it, if there is a que for the post office there is only one Mcolls till working if that till has a problem which is quite often the customer has to wait until the senior has finished with their post office customer to deal with it which creates an even larger que for services one parcel customer could only watch with exasperation as the parcel collection took place while he waited for the Mcolls till to be sorted out !
I personally drove past 2 1/2 miles to the next village used a real post office bought my Lottery tickets at another shop drove back past Witton Gilbert Mcolls only to see my neighbour sill standing outside in the rain in the Covid queue, and this is of course on top of tills not working or staff not being able to log in to tills, card readers not working, Lottery machine constantly on the blink.
I really feel sorry for the staff who are brilliant trying their hardest. tprovide

McColl's has a good amount of stuff in the shop plus a good little post office but you can't top up your British gas maters there you have to go to Sacriston post office to do that!!!!

Awful company to have worked for. Especially the post office. Truly horrible in all respects.

Rude, unhelpful ‘snappy’ male counter assistant, who made me feel most unwelcome.
I will definitely try to avoid this store in future.

I was passing the area on Sunday and popped in for a few Bottles of pop . When i got to the counter i also asked for 2 scratch cards and i was asked for ID ! I am 27 years old with 5 dependents i was standing with my car keys in my hand ( you have to be 17 to drive duh )... i said you have to be 16 to buy a scratch card and she abruptly told me it was 18 ! This is incorrect it is 16 years of age to buy lotto scratch card until October 2021. Yet i was served with 3 energy drinks forgive me if I’m wrong but there is also a age limit of 16 to buy. I was rather embarrassed to be refused and then corrected when i said the age limit was 16, she was so rude obviously couldn’t be bothered to get them off the roll .

Papers are not always available on.a morning and food is well over priced paying 1.5 times more there than at a supermarket.

Had the things I was looking for the shame it was changed as it seems to have less options now but still has everything you need.
