We spent 2 nights here as a base for some sight seeing in North Wales.

The postcode actually takes you past the cottage, so make sure you have the extra information to hand and not just rely on the sat nag.

Jo met us with a welcome box (which was lush) and showed us around. She made it very clear that if we needed anything then just go to the main house and find her, but then left us to our own devices so it felt like we were on our own.

The cottage is on the edge of their farm where they breed ponies, so you do get the odd neigh, but the cottage walls are traditional and very thick.

The cottage itself has a large kitchen diner fitted with every mod-con, a large sitting room and 2 separate bedrooms (double and twin) and family bathroom, so ideal for couples and families. It also has a hot tub, so make sure you pack your budgie smugglers.

The location is in the middle of nowhere, with stunning views over the fields and woodland, but close enough to the A55 that you can be in Rhyl in 20 mins, and Betws y Coed in an hour.

This is a lovely out of the way place, with a very warm welcome.

We stayed in the cottage for a week at the end of July 2022 it was a lot cooler than we expected, the cottage is up quite high compared to local areas so lots of hills and narrow roads to encounter to get there unless you hop straight off the A55. Very easy to find and just before a bend in the road so not that easy to see when pulling out but it is a quiet road most of the time, a few buses but not very frequent. Sadly we didn't really use the outside area as much as we had hoped as it was quite cold and rainy some of the time we were there, often in the morning it was wet.
The cottage is very comfortable, there is a downstairs loo just by the front door which is very handy. There is a table with four chairs and a couple of wooden chairs in the garden. There is NO HOT TUB NOW just in case you want have seen previous reviews mentioning it, not that it mattered to us at all.
The kitchen has most things you need, not great saucepans though and the knives are not sharp at all, we bought an uncut loaf of bread locally and struggled to cut it so had to buy cu loaves after that which was a shame.
The lounge was very comfortable with a very nice leather three piece suite and footstool. There is a DVD player and LOADS of DVD's to watch, and the TV has freeview TV.

The upstairs was very spacious with nice size bedrooms but the doors for the bathroom and twin bedroom rubbed really badly and noisily on the frame (just needs a little plane) so bedtime was noisy. Not great for children that are light sleepers! Luckily mine is not so didn't bother him.
The shower was quite tricky, either being too hot, or too cold and not being able to find an in-between perfect temperature but it did the job for a week.
Toilet rolls and hand soap was also provided along with washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and cleaning sprays and cloths and kitchen roll. There was also some salt and pepper and some spices in the kitchen cupboards along with tea bags and some coffee and sugar in the three containers on the kitchen worktop. Just remember to bring towels including hand towels for both bathroom and toilet downstairs and a tea towel for the kitchen.
The WiFi was very good and only dropped a few times on the Monday but otherwise was great all the time and we were able to stream films and have WIFI calls. There is almost no signal if you are on Three mobile there, I did manage to receive a few text messages but calls would not have been possible, saying emergency calls only most of the time. This did not matter at all however as we had WiFi so could use WhatsApp to call if needed.
Just Eat is available there but I could only see three restaurants and two were Indian and one pizza/chicken. We didn't use it though as we found a Chinese takeaway in Holywell and used the Tesco for most of our meals.
We would happily stay at the Cottage at Fachallt again as the views were stunning, looking out over a field of cows, very young female cows, there were fascinated by us when we stood by the gate to see them. There are also many footpaths around the area into fields behind the cottage and farm, we went for a walk and found a barn with some sheep inside. They were very surprised to see us and enjoyed staring at us.
Rhyl is a short drive away and was many degrees warmer than the cottage area even on the beach! Lots of parking available but you need 30p in change each time you use the toilets there!

The Horseshoe Pass is only 45mins drive away and worth a visit on a clear day as it is around 1300 above sea-level so amazing views! We visited on the way to and from the cottage and were not disappointed.
Chester is not far away and a lovely old city we wanted to visit but ran out of time in the end.

The local whisky distillery Aber Falls makes gin which you can buy locally, you can see the distillery from the A55 on the way to Conwy.

If you choose to visit this cottage you will be sure to have a great time with loads to see and do nearby and a very comfortable stay and very friendly hosts.
