This Credit Union is a absolute joke. The staff behind the counter are complete idiots and are rude to top it off. I have never experienced such a bad level of customer service than i have from this place.
Exen the staff on the phones are un professional and rude.
I complained to the manager once in the store and she told me that she cant be long because she has work to do.
I mean the level of arrogance that is needed to say that is unbelievable.
It is her job to speak to customers.
If it is the same women running the show it no wonder why the rest of her team are useless.
I feel sorry for customers of the credit union.
Everyone needs replacing from the tod down there.
Be warned people.

If I could give 0 stars, I would!! The only thing that justifies the star is the friendliness and politeness of the lady that works on the cashiers desk... If you have to use a Credit Union I'd really suggest using another branch.... The information given to new customers is so vague that if you dont ask you have no idea how their system works, even then you are given basic answers.. I signed up thinking it would be a great way to save but also have access to emergency funds should I need it.. I was given ZERO information on the accounts and services they provide or how they work so after having to ask I was told to "just apply for whatever you want to" when in my experience, different circumstances would be eligible for different products or services, but not here!! Decided to apply for a loan, which was the worst loan application process I have ever experienced... Applying online is even worse than instore as you cant even upload any documents so after they receive your application they have you going back and forth into store to drop off documents then after they make a decision (which it seems you have to constantly chase them for because its taking weeks rather than the 7days they propose), if successful, you have to go back again just to sign the contract... Let me add that they will want you to save a minimum of £100 per month for 3 months before they will even consider you for a loan, any loan by the way. And if you touch ANY of YOUR OWN savings during this time they will decline your application (obviously not for those on low incomes then, as advertised). The manager has poor communication skills as he does not return calls or messages left on his answerphone and is always too busy to come out of his office to speak to customers instore also...

Admittedly the staff are friendly but the service is quick and efficient so I can complain. Credit union is a nice place to put money and save. 5 stars because I haven't had no issues.

I have been a member for about 3 or 4 years now and have finally decided to leave after too many bad experiences. The missing money people have mentioned is due to the very specific system not being explained to members when you join up, so money gets transferred without an essential reference number and it gets lost floating around in the credit union bank account. The credit union doesn't reject the money transtransf incorrectly or contact the bank sending it or anything, and they look at you like you're stupid for not ensuring the transfer had a reference when no one ever told you it needed it.

I generally don't mind rude staff coz I don't need someone to pretend they're having a great time to get things done. But here it's kind of next level, and they always seem to think you're stupid, which means they don't listen, so they get more confused and frustrated, and everything just takes longer and gets harder. I work in service so am pretty patient but lord they do try me (still never snapped though)

Main issues were:

Could never register for online banking

Could never get through on the phone

Lack of information on making transfers resulting in missing money

Money sent from Credit Union account (my tax bill!) sent with incorrect reference causing me to get in trouble with HMRC*

*I can't say for sure that this one wasn't my fault as it was so long since the transfer that the issue was flagged, but the credit union has been so bad it was just the final straw, it may not have been their fault but at this point it's just to risky to keep my money with them.

My experience at this branch was very positive compared to the Stratford branch which was very unprofessional in the least. I was annoyed by the low standard of customer service and was advised to travel to the Bethnal Green branch (which cost me additional fares). Nevertheless, I made my way and spoke with a member of staff who took time to sit down with me and answered my queries also helped and assisted to set up my accounts according to my request. She explained what would be suitable for me as a long time saver and what would not be relevant to how I want to use my accounts.

I cannot give this branch a bad review because my experience with this branch was very positive compared to te Stratford branch. The staff were polite, well communicated and highly professional. Also you were welcomed with a smile which makes you feel accepted and not as though you are a problem. After the having to deal with the rudeness and unhelpful Manager and admin staff my instant thought was to close the accounts and put my money elsewhere. However after receiving professional assistance from the Bethnal Green branch, I have declined from doing so. Its time that the CEO looks into these complaints and proper training given to staff. Most of the staff are not professionally trained to deal with customer care therefore the service is which is downgrades the Excellence and Ethics of the LCCU.

What you get for £10 each month:

-disappointing online banking system,
-faster payments arriving with a 1day delay (even in between 2 members),
- Improved fitness if you choose to walk to the branch instead of using public transport as nobody ever answers phone calls in there which means having to go there in person with every single thing.
I think it’s a great idea but the execution is ridiculously bad so will be moving to the cooperative Bank soon.

Really fed up with constant website issues. Yet again, their site seems to be down with no email to customers informing them of this. I need to transfer some money to my pre-paid card (still waiting for a card linked to my account) for tomorrow before I start work, only to find that I cannot access the LCCU website. Google states that the site cannot be found. Just wanted to add to my previous review. I Now have a new Debit Card,
issued at the end of October and have had all manner of issues with it when shopping on-line as some companies don't recognise the card at all. Last week when trying to pay an on-line bill, the payment wouldn't go through and I ended up making 5 attempts. Later that evening, I received 5 texts from LCCU stating that the funds had been taken out of my account 5 TIMES! and It almost emptied my current account. I had to take time off from work the following day just so I could go to the Bank to sort it out because THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE.
Just to add to my previous post from 4 months ago (It's now April 2019). The website seems to be down..again, I am unable to access on-line banking and need to make a money transfer. Phone is saying mailbox full..What is this?, why does a bank even have a mailbox. Not at all happy. Also noticed the LCCU only respond to positive comments and don't even attempt to answer for the shoddy service they provide. The previous post was added in 2019 , it is now August 2020. Money taken from my account by Amazon for a cancelled order was refunded straight away, this was on 13th August, it is now 24th August and LCCU still haven't put the money back into my account. I have made countless calls (when they answer the phone) only to be told the money isn't there. Received an email from Amazon giving the authorisation code of the refund transaction and yet LCCU still can't find it. Had just about enough of this joke of a place. If it wasn't for the fact I have a loan with them, I would leave today. As soon as my loan is paid up. I will be transferring my money to a real Bank and closing my account with LCCU.
