When I first visited this shop back in 2003 it was pretty good. Had a wide range of cakes, pies, breads and meats that were reasonably priced with friendly staff. I used to look forward to calling in when coming off the narrowboat and regarded it as a highlight. Unfortunately this shop has steadily declined over the years. I called in this Saturday (4/2/17) and found the shop had declined even further. The range of cakes, pies etc was much smaller and nothing on display looked particularly appetizing and prices were very high. So I settled for a "Cornish" Pasty. It was horrible. Mashed up meat with potatoes and a few carrots. Not a Cornish Pasty at all by any description. And of course illegally labelled as obviously not made in Cornwall. And the once friendly staff were, well, aloof and not friendly at all. Why it has changed so much I don't know; new owners, manager, staff... I wont be going back.

Lovely selection of fresh bread and rolls. Lovely cakes and pork pies. Cold meat is cooked beautifully and always fresh. Good selection of cheese. Lovely selection of hors d'oeuvres. My favourite is the porkpie with Shropshire blue or Stilton topping. They do filled rolls as well but you need to get there early!

Great selection. And open nice and early. I like this town.

Amazing pasties, cheese, cured meats, olives and fresh bread. Lovely food and friendly service.

Have to try the quiche

I gave it one star because the takeaway food is good, I have been using this cafe for around 40 years on and off and the service has always been good until today, a young lad who was more concerned about how he looked took my order, 4 times I told what I wanted and still ne got it wrong, all I wanted was a bacon and cheese role, what could be simpler, after waiting 15 minutes for a paninie which I never ordered he proceeded to argue in front of other customers that he was right and I was wrong, so arrogant in his manner ,thankfully one of the ladies promptly changed the order
No apology was forthcoming.
I suggest that this member of staff would benefit from some retraining in how to handle customers.

A lovely little bakery in the heart of Ellesmere. From the moment I entered the staff were kind and courteous. I purchased a few items including a sausage roll, brownie and a steak pie. All the food is delicious and handmade. I will most definitely be back in very very soon. Horray for small business!

My favourite deli -the staff are friendly and helpful and the pork pies and cornish pasties are the best!!! I can't praise this shop enough. Many thanks!
