Poor service, expensive and expected better.

Response to Cripps Dental Centre below:

I fully take responsibility for my lateness. Doctor's appointments of a family overlapped and I didn't realise the time. Although I asked expressly for a text stating the time/date, and was promised such, it never arrived.

So, what I do not take responsibility for the the excuse: 'a late patient affects subsequent appointments' trope. I called (09:17) 20 minutes before my appointment to inform you I may run late. I then gave the exact time (09:50) I would arrive factoring the aforementioned issues. A receptionist informed me they would ask the dental hygienist I they could still fit me in. I was- and still am- grateful for the courtesy.

Arriving in the full parking lot, I called to inform you I was on the premises but due to graduations, and other logistics, was struggling to find a spot (09:46). I was told the hygienist was still in an appointment and hadn't responded to the receptionist's message. I was advised to enter any way.

Having parked, I rushed to sign in at 09:51. Within a maximum of 5 minutes, the hygienist had ignored the message, and moved onto the next patient and I was informed I would have to pay £50.

Please refrain from pushing the blame onto myself, without first evaluating your service. The hygienist was at least 6 minutes late to a 10 minute appointment, because they were still in-session when I called. The hygienist was also late; do I get a free clean in this case? It seems only fair.

The late hygienist did not reply to the message (as admitted by the receptionist) and swiftly moved on the next patient. Whether they knew my circumstance, I do not know. I was advised to still come in and did so. On the day- and clearly today- it is being inferred this was entirely my fault.

I work within/for the NHS, and have done so for a long time, this is not how you treat a patient. If you require an audit of your time keeping, I would be more than happy to comply.

FYI I paid the fee promptly, without complaint on the day.
EDIT rating of 1 star, instead of 2

Receptionist was rude. Dentist was abrupt. Work carried out shoddy. A place to avoid but I think that's their plan to get as many NHS patients off the books making them to go private

Perhaps the worst dental service I had ever encountered in my life. The amount of malpractice and lack of care uncovered by future dentists is unfathomable. Treatment took place between 2018-2019 I believe.

I've been a patient for over a decade. In that time I've had various dentists and work ranging from check ups and a cleans to a dental implant (thank you Neil and Tej). I have found the quality of work and communication to be consistently high. My wife and daughters have had the same experience. There's a waiting list because dental treatment is in high demand in the UK and the quality of care here is high. Very much recommended.

A quite shocking service and an awful attitude from the receptionist. I have been a Cripps client for more than 30 years but I guess loyalty and continuity counts for so little in todays world. I phoned to make an appointment as obviously there was a very limited service during the pandemic. Only to be told I had been sent 3 emails and had not responded and had been struck from their client list. I can say hand on heart that never in my life have I had an email from Cripps, only telephone or text communications. The receptionist seemed to be so joyous in telling me that I could no longer attend as a NHS patient but could have a private check up for £100 plus the cost of X-rays. Not a good experience at all after 30 years of complete loyalty apart from not being keen to attend in the pandemic.
I would reiterate that despite their reply below I have never received an email from Cripps EVER. I believe the other reviews to be correct that they are just ruthlessly shedding NHS patients - avoid them. And I would like to remind the receptionist that politeness and respect to a long standing client should be a matter of course, it used to be something that mattered. Judging by the collective reviews - it is not something that matters to Cripps, to be rated as the worst dentist in the world by someone is really going some.

Went recently to see Patrick C. Been a patient since i joined at Uni some 20+yrs ago! Fab service from receptionists and extremely tidy and pleasant environment to be in. Even the parking was easy! These are difficult times for the NHS and I’m so fortunate to be a patient at Cripps Dental. Thankyou team!

This is possibly the worse dentist in the world. There are more receptionist than actual dentist, and due to a national shortage of NHS dentists, they've opted to get as many NHS patients as possible off their books or get them to pay for private treatment. They should close the business; the reception staff are sleezy & dishonest.

As a patient for the last 12 years, I have always had a very good experience. A few weeks ago, I needed an emergency appointment and also a check-up today. The front desk team have been absolutely brilliant to try to fit me in their schedule - I can only imagine how busy it must be. Thank you ever so much to the whole team at Cripps Dental for doing truly an amazing job during such challenging and unprecedented times. Thank you very much indeed and Happy Holidays-Merry Christmas to everyone at the clinic.
