Smile Studio Penarth

A disappointing experience having attended Smile for 10 years under the previous regime. What the staff lack in empathy they now make up for in officiousness. The "surgery" evidently now operating as an enterprise focussed on promoting cosmetic dentistry in all its facets. We are all now too only too familiar with the demands imposed by Covid; my son is autistic and he never had any issues with Mr Thomas or his staff but the entitled approach of the receptionist "stand here" "wear a mask" etc reduced him nearly to tears. It appeared the multiple page preliminary questionnaire I completed well in advance was never received and and minutes before I arrived I was being chased by text message to send a new one. After arriving in good time and waiting 15 minutes for my sons's check up he was getting stressed and we decided to leave but the receptionist demanded to know why we were leaving and when I told her the curt response was the dentist was running late and very busy. It seemingly wasn't in her pay grade to advise us on arrival of the situation. Sorry to be negative Smile Studio or should that now be Scowl Studio?

After a few years not visiting the dentist through absolute fear! I had an appointment with Rory and he made me feel at ease straight away… he explained everything to me clearly and I knew I was in good hands. The next appointment was an extraction which was worrying! but I needn’t have feared, as I was put at ease yet again. I was looked after completely… Rory explained everything that would be happening and I was so shocked how quick and pain free the procedure was!

I would gladly recommend a visit! If you fear the dentist, (as I have) please be reassured that you will be put at ease straight away by all of the staff at Smile Studio.

I was very nervous of the dentists before coming to the smile studio and embarrassed of my teeth. Rory and all of the dental nurses/hygienists and receptionists have made me feel so welcome and at ease- I’m practically falling asleep in the chair I’m so relaxed. I couldn’t recommend them enough!

Cheryl James recommended the water flosser to me and it’s made such a difference to the health of my gums and teeth and my daily routine! Can’t thank her enough!!

Excellent dental care with a comprehensive clinical examination. My receding gums have greatly improved with regular visits to the hygienist. Thank you Cheryl 😬

Excellent service as always. Managed to get my hygienist and check up back to back, so all done for another three months. As I am on one of their plans there was nothing to pay either, so a good day all round.

Today I finished my treatment with David the orthodontist, and I am really happy with the results! I had my braces on for just over a year and my teeth are now much straighter. David and all of the other staff at smile studio were very kind throughout :)

At 60 I was told I had a deep traumatic bite and would need orthodontic treatment or my front teeth would eventually fall out. My dentist referred me to the University Dental Hospital. Ten months later I knew I would have to move quicker than the UHD waiting list. My younger children have been under the care of Smile Studio a long time and I decided to see their orthodontist. I couldn't have wished for better care & attention. I had fixed braces for 14 months (like being 13 again!). I am now brace free. My teeth do look different. Indeed, my kids say I look like an 'American'! As an ordinary 60+ with no spare money for cosmetic dentistry, this is a rather nice bonus!
