2nd app. Took two x-rays said I needed work. ?? Why didn't they do x-rays on first occasion?
I missed 3rd appointment due to ill health. I was kicked out. Couldn't call as was in hospital. One appointment split into two parts then told had to do x-rays again as they didn't come out right, that would have been my 3rd appearance with no actual work done? With a much better one now, thank God.
By forcing the sharp steel probe down into the tooth surface...really going at it with the strength of a forearm.
I sent a photo of the damage to the practice manager Mr Majid Jamshad and just asked that force isn't applied again. (Who wants more holes in their teeth if it can be avoided)
A reasonable request which should have ended things there. But he didn't agree, after I asked him twice. (So be careful that they don't damage your teeth too by continuing this questionable practice).
Obviously on the defensive, Mr Jamshad said that he couldn't comment on the photo and called me a nob for good measure!
Is that any way to treat a patient?
I asked for an apology.
He replied that he didn't know what I was referring to. Hmm.
Instead he offered a general apology (for nothing specific) and an invitation to return.
So be careful, if they commit a misdemeanor they'll just add another one on top and play dumb to wriggle out of the consequences.
I only asked that damage doesn't happen again - for my own and for other patients' benefit.
Other dentists move the steel probe lightly over the tooth surface to see if it enters a pre-existing cavity.
Whereas at Park View, they'll forcibly press the sharp steel probe down into the tooth surface....whether there's a cavity there or not.
If they can't find one, then they'll make one... It's all part of the service :)
Why I wonder does the dentist tell you to brush your teeth lightly to avoid wearing away the enamel but then go on to press sharp steel in to them?
After all of their years in practice, they must be aware of what will happen, right?
In case it's still a mystery to them, I'll elaborate. Pressing sharp steel into teeth will compromise weaker areas of enamel and create needless holes, as it did with me.
Maybe Mr Jamshad was just over stressed / worked. He's usually professional. But what does it take to remain civilized?
If this happens to you too, after I've brought this to the attention of the manager, then you can make a report to the GDC or make a legal claim for negligence.
I'm not going to do either unless others tell me that it's happened to them too.
After all, we go to the dentist to stop holes forming in our teeth, instead of paying the dentist to create them.
I since contacted another dental practice about whether pressing the probe down into teeth is standard. They replied, "we never do this, it was kind of shunned twenty years ago".
It looks like Park View Dental Practice are behind the times.
So if you're thinking of going to Park View please make sure to ask the dentist to agree in advance of your appointment to not press the steel probe into your teeth during an assessment. It will save you artificial damage, expense and an unnecessary filling.
Also by saving you the need to complain you'll avoid getting called an obscenity.
It took them two minutes to create the hole in my tooth, and if I hadn't asked the dentist at the time to stop pressing so hard, they would have created a few more.
The receptionist was polite though, friendly and cheerful.
I'll leave you to make up your own mind about Park View Dental Practice.
All in all, don't be fooled by the friendly reception staff, the dentists themselves are sub par and seem to care not at all about the pain and suffering they inflict. I know it 8s hard to find a dentist but I will be putting myself on the waiting list for a new one and I recommend that you AVOID this dentist.
Update: months later bone splinters are still forcing their way out of my gum. Seriously you are better to live with toothache than go to these butchers!!!
