St Leonards Dental Practice

I feel very torn writing this review as I had been with this practice for over forty years and had been extremely happy with the service I had received over those years. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune to have an emergency appointment with another dentist rather than my own dentist (he is very curteous, polite and professional). However, this other dentist, was exactly the opposite - bullish, unprofessional, rude, spoke over me constantly, and most importantly, did not explain the procedure she did on me beforehand. If I'd realised what she was going to do I would never have gone ahead - I had no explanation before hand! I was in total shock when she had finished and she didn't achieve her objective anyway, which was to kill the nerve in my tooth, as she couldn't find it! (I'd gone in with an abscess). So I went through all that pain and hassle for nothing. As far as I am aware it is an accepted practise to explain a procedure to a patient before carrying out that procedure and getting the patient's consent. My own dentist was very apologetic when I told him and said he'd ask the woman dentist in question to contact me to explain her actions and hopefully apologise but so far, and it's been many, many months, I have heard nothing! So it's with a heavy heart that I have changed my dentist and I would advise anyone to avoid ever going to see that woman.

Received excellent care from Charles Pigeon during an emergency appointment this week. Thorough and re-assuring, very professional. Very pleased to have been able to make an emergency appointment the day I needed it after my fall.

I was seen within 2 days after damaging a tooth at the weekend, the receptionist was extremely understanding. My regular dentist managed to repair my tooth on the day and I was very happy with such an efficient service. I can highly recommend this practice.

Was with this dentist for 20 years but didn't visit during covid then lost both parents. Rang to make an appointment recently to be told as I removed as a patient. I explained my situation but was told it was 'our policy'. Receptionist was extremely rude and even laughed at me when I told her the situation was unacceptable. Clearly aimed at removing NHS patients and replacing them with better paying private patients. Disgraceful!!!
Only given one star as giving no star is not possible.
