Just seen Doctor Lewis and couldn’t have asked for anyone better. After being “fobbed off” by many other doctors over the last few years I’ve finally found someone who is actually helping me. He was amazing and couldn’t do enough to help me. I absolutely love this man!! I also found the receptionists to be extremely helpful and friendly.

I’ve had the experience of Dr Chico (unsure of spelling) a couple of times now and both times she has lacked compassion, bedside manner very cold, talks over you, doesn’t listen. Had my 5 month old baby in my hand, with changing bag and coat, called me in and the door shut and she didn’t open it for me when you could see I was struggling. I’ve spoken with her before about mental health. I was crying down the phone to her pleading and saying I feel like no one is listening and her response was “you’re just going round in circles” I didn’t write a review the first time round, but after this encounter I feel so disappointed with this service.

Well dodgy! My friend spoke to a doctor at the surgery on the phone. He shared a photo of a small bald patch on his head, asked if the doctor should examine the bald patch in the surgery - he said no. My friend later went to Taiwan where a tumour was diagnosed and later removed. Shocking! Shameful! A total dereliction of duty! Fortunately for Thornhill my friend's Taiwanese nature makes him unwilling to complain.

I'm happy with the doctors in the surgery but the last year it's just being harder and harder to get a proper appointment with a doc not on the phone or with paramedics. The main issue seems to be one of the receptionist as thinks she's a health professional and she deciding if you need medical help or no. Even with my two years old a few times when he wasn't well, kept arguing over the phone trying to convince me it's not their job to check him even though it's something we have to go through gp for. We're now calling only for urgent stuff, prefer to put up with our health issues just to avoid being treated like rubbish.

So, I rang in for a non-urgent appointment to see Dr Lewis for next Tuesday (I called in today, Monday). I'm told the appointment couldn't be made. However, magically, were I to phone in three day's time on Thursday the appointment can be made. Dur! If only the receptionists at Thornhill were a tiny bit as good as Dr Lewis, who is amazing!

A few complaints about receptionists here. I've been a patient for about 20yrs and have no bad encounters with any receptionist. Sometimes I get a snappy one, but if that's her personality type, I'm not going to take anything personally, the job get's done, usually very quickly, and all is well.
I can't complain about the doctors at all. some I prefer more than others but that's about it.
The surgery is OK, waiting areas are good downstairs with plenty of seating but the upstairs waiting room is a disaster. Wooden bench seats line the walls of the room, and I can't imagine what sort of creature would be comfortable waiting on them for any length of time. the seating is generally on a par with the rest of the room. enough said.
there was a time when, for various reasons, I thought about a change of surgeries and waiting rooms, but I didn't. Good decision.

I am registered with this practice for three years and my experience has always been positive. My concerns have always been addressed and treated in a professional and prompt manner even during the hard times we are going through at the moment. Dr Walters especially is an excellent doctor, combines solid medical knowledge but also human care.
