A really difficult place to get an appointment if you work. Trying to get through on the phone is ridiculous. You can't ring before work and then they tell you to ring after 11am. Then they close for lunch - surely they could stagger their lunch breaks? They often close down the reception because no one answers and then after work they close down again even when they are open until 6.30pm. Is it any wonder people end up at A&E. It is antiquated and difficult. Some of the receptionists are grumpy and unhelpful - we only ring a surgery when we are sick and in need of help.... only to be treated like we are interfering with their day! I have been with them for ten years and have a chronic condition but trying to get an appointment is just awful. I have great faith in the NHS but not this med centre. I will try and find some other place but fear it will be much the same. Very disappointing. It used to be so much better with the staff and doctors that were there back then.... now.... fairly rubbish.

I've always been able to get an appointment, sometimes immediately and the staff are friendly and the doctors thorough and knowledgable. I don't normally write reviews but I saw that the centre had one review of one star with no explanation from the reviewer and thought it unfair. It's much better than that.

No problem at all to get appointment. Sometimes is difficult to reach GP by phone but they are busy like other NHS places. Patients can use "patient access" app and book appointment there. My child has been always seen on the same day if that was needed. So people give them chance and don't forget there are other patients as well (inc. me).

I have been waiting for over 2 weeks to get a private referral. I raised the issue in person at the clinic and was obliged to converse with the very unfriendly receptionist. The medical practice has not been in touch and has not kept me up-to-date at all (unprofessional). When I asked to trace and check when they had called they stated that this was impossible, which seems highly unlikely. This is unacceptable for private referral. I deliberately chose private medical attention to avoid issues that I had previously encountered with the NHS.
I have today checked with the secretary of the private doctor I wanted to see in the 1st place who confirmed that they have never received any referral from St James medical centre even so the receptionist shouted at me that they had send it and that I needed to go home and check it with them directly. I knew I was right but she made me feel like I was crazy. This is so unappropriated and should have instead get her facts right.
I addressed a complaint to the NHS website but needed to address it to St James medical centre practise manager before they can publish it, as apparently you can only leave positive reviews on NHS website? A joke!!

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!!
Since merging with Grosvenor they have slowly gone down hill and become awful. I've been trying to get a doctors appointment for 3 weeks now, i ring dead on 8.30am and after being put on hold for 20mins they say there's only emergency appointments left. HOW?!
When I request an emergency appointment, I get told by a receptionist that my need isn't one and if you disagree with their decision THEY HANG UP!! I'm disabled and needed an emergency appointment today for my pain medication as every single time I put my repeat prescription in, they cancel it or don't send an important item to the pharmacy! So because of one rude and unprofessional receptionist I'm having to worry and panic about getting my prescription on time.

I've not been well for some time now and I've got to say Dr Hall is one of the most supportive, understanding and helpful doctors I've ever come across. Theres been the odd time you have to wait to go in but thats when you know the Dr is good and has time for their patients and You do not feel like your on a conveyor belt The staff are friendly and help as much as they can. Thank you St James Surgery it's refreshing and a privilege for me.

Just recently joined and I should have taken the other reviews more seriously. Rude incompetent receptionists who can't do their job properly. I'm now feeling sick because I'm missing my medication that I've tried to get them to sort for days now. I had to ring several times as they never responded to my email, then I went down there and their printer was broken so they made me walk to grovsner to take it there. Then I was told the next day I would be able to go pick up my medication but they still havnt sorted it. Shocking
