Athena Medical Centre

I have just moved from another practice. Signing up was a smooth process but I was unable to book the two appointments I needed on the day, because she said it would take two days to process the application. The receptionist asked me to call back. Which I did. However, another receptionist is telling me they are not taking any appointments until the new year. I understand not having space until the new year, but why is it not possible to schedule a date in the calendar? My baby needs his immunisations and I'm not happy about having to delay this by what is now at least 3 weeks, likely more though, exposing him to increased risk.

I went there today to do my smear test. Receptionist have been really nice and nurse Biola was also nice and very gentle. Thank you so much Biola.

Aneesa was amazing and very helpful. Stayed on the line and helped me get a sick note. She has a good sense of humour but more importantly she’s very caring.

Unfortunately my first (and only encounter), with this surgery has been horrible. I don't want to go too much in details for privacy-related reasons, but I have felt that patients in this practice count less than nothing. I felt discriminated and a burden for them. Apart from one of the nurse and one GP practicing there, everyone else I met has treated me extremely bad. I have even highlighted my concerns with an official email of complaint to the practice's manager and never got back a response. I am now going to another practice. AVOID IF YOU CAN!

On my experiences, the reception team have always been friendly and helpful.
The doctor call backs, have been prompt, to the point and helpful.
All services have been quick. The building itself is clean, big and at all times i've been empty (which is nice)
I had an appointment with Biola and she was great, so friendly and calming and my appointment was painless.

A mention must be forwarded of the skill, patience and overall exceptional bedside manner of Lynda, a health care professional at the Athena Medical Centre. I recently underwent surgery at the Hommerton University Hospital. My outpatient care has been provided by the extremely capable aforementioned. Lynda's ability to make me feel comfortable, pain free and well informed while she removes and replaces the dressing which covers a particularly tender wound, is astonishingly adept. Her talents must be revered at the medical centre and deservedly. Thank you Lynda, the NHS is a better service with amiable, knowledgeable and compassionate employees such as Lynda.

Possibly the worst medical practice I have ever seen. Granted, I really do appreciate the challenges of COVID and the terrible underfunding of the NHS, but 4 out of 5 times appointments are scheduled incorrectly, support staff is not even rude just helpless and incompetent (and doesn't observe basic COVID protections), every single action requires follow-up because you can literally not expect a single action to be done correctly, only cash is accepted... Not a single outreach on COVID vaccinations, registered with a new practice and was invited for appointments within a day. I could go on..

Not good service at all. Rude staff, didnt treat me and didnt give a reason as to why, no phone call in advance. Staff just seem to be chatting away at the receptionist area. All that staff and they are not working to treat their patients. Very disappointing
