I attended this surgery as i was unable to get an appointment at my own and was offered one here. I found the doctor i saw (Neill) to be very attentive and he listened to me carefully before making recommendations to me. This felt like very good quality patient focused care. Thankyou

Doctors and nurses are friendly and know what they're doing. Some of the reception staff are good, others less so. Administration of this practice is terrible however. You will wait forever on the phone to get through, emails are not answered, messages over the phone or in person are not acted on.

Would not recommend. Impossible to get through on the phone never mind getting an appointment.

I had a doctor make a referral for a procedure in hospital without ever telling me why - this was a very unwelcome surprise and I was totally unprepared for a biopsy.

Contact is the main issue with this practice unfortunately - I would advise looking elsewhere, my experience has been very similar to others here.

I would put no stars if I could. This surgery fails its duty of care. They do not care about their patients. They never follow up the "4 working days" rule from their website when you contact them and they ignore complaints. Who is not tired of the nearly two minutes long message from Dr O'Flynn when you call them? The receptionists, who are not doctors, are too noisy when asking about symptoms etc to get a chance to be put on the call list. They are still not fully back to face-to-face appointments. A minimum of three weeks to get a blood test – as they changed their booking system – is a joke. They keep messing up with my prescriptions and do not follow consultant’s recommendations. They do not care that you suffer because you are out of medicine for a couple of days because they didn’t deal with your regular prescription. One partner had a told me off me once as I did not pick up the phone when the GP called me two hours late! I am not glued to my phone and may need the bathroom. I shouldn’t be blamed because the doctor didn’t not respect the appointment time. I needed a supply of my medicine for my holidays abroad. I spoke to two doctors a month before, I messaged the surgery several times explaining the deadline with the pharmacy and for one week I went to the surgery every single day, nothing was sorted. The receptionists kept telling me it would be done on the same day. It is very worrying that a surgery cannot get the right medicine or give you medicine on time as well as not calling back... AVOID!!! CQC rated them inadequate.

After nearly putting the phone down on Dr S Patel he suddenly manipulated me to see him; taking advantage of my poor digestive issues during his call to me. He then came to my home (surprisingly after many failed requests of me asking him to) and immediately signed me up for an incorrect ‘mental health assessment’ instead without any conversation, explanation, awareness and importantly with ‘informed consent’. It was out of the blue. I told him clearly, "You can’t just do that to me without my consent!" Then as he did not reply, I moved on and asked him "What is this assessment about?" Nothing. Finally,"what happens if I don’t agree to it?" He ignored me and walked off. I then followed him trying to get a reply as he exited, he next chose to threaten me and I was fearfully refrained from speaking. What I found out later to my detriment, was he registered me to an ambiguous sectioning process which I had no choice but to comply with.

Me and him had roughly 10 months of problems prior to this fateful visit. It all came from him, as he was not open with me about his reasons for being very difficult to obtain the fit notes and referrals I needed to keep my job that I valued, and crucially sort my gastric health out. He was constantly sceptical with no rationale from the start. When we did see each other in an appointment, we mutually agreed on the fit notes and the diagnosis. But then a week later I would often find out he changed his mind. I would only find that out as he would write on the fit note something else without my knowledge.

To me this is not what Hippocrates stood for in his oath. Nor what the GMC presently outline in their guidance on professional standards and ethics for doctors. But more specifically in their book on 'Decision making and consent'.

Furthermore, the reception desk can take a long while to get through to, and when you do, it can lead to a lot of confusion. This has a lot to do with a lack of up to date dialogue between them and the GPs.

The only doctor I would see is Dr O’Flynn. Maybe this is where I went wrong? I know he would have told me directly where he stood and let me decide what I want to do.

I rate the nurses who work there. They are often warm, enthusiastic and efficient in how they do their work. You feel almost like a child again receiving a sticker for being brave haha. Personally, as an adult, I still would not mind getting a sticker or two (making a joke).

Update:

Hi all,

Please see my latest review about the doctor in the opening paragraph. It's useful advice that can apply to all medical professionals.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Medical Gas lighting exists . Been complaining of pain all my life . Moved to this Doctor it took them approx 12 years to send me to a genetist at MY request only to discover I have got a genetic disorder which causes Sever pain. So low and behold I was right and no I wasn’t depressed just in PAIN!! Honestly I know these people are busy but perhaps research your patient a bit and try and CARE!
Nurses here are kind and professional. Reception staff seem to change rapidly but all in all seem nice .

This surgery used to be amazing. Unfortunately over the past year and with new doctors it has gone downhill rapidly. Your waiting on hold for over an hour a time to get through. Receptionist are extremely rude. I have been waiting at the doctors and seen reception just lounging and chatting as if at a friends dinner party while phones rang for a minimum of 15 minutes. When you finally get an appointment the doctors are very quick to use you as an experimental case and are willing to try so many medications on you rather than spend a bit longer to discuss what will actually be suitable. So many medications given and experienced horrible side effects. The previous doctors used to spend proper time explaining, listening and treating. The new doctors really will just give you anything - they really don't care.

I have had both good and bad experiences in the surgery.
A few years back was very disappointed with the reception staff and a doctor.
During Covid pandemic they have been very professional and attentive. Got doctors appointments straight away and referral for my eye surgery.
Have been twice for nurse appointment and Anabel has been amazing and understanding of my needle panic.
Reception staff has been very professional and patient.
