Thornton surgery was started I believe in the late seventies by a wonderful doctor called Elspeth Richardson, she was everything a doctor should be, kind compassionate and had time for her many patients, she listened and did all that she could to help you, in a nutshell she genuinely cared. She was loved and admired by all who knew her and sadly missed when she retired and moved away from the area.

Fast forward to this last decade which saw another remarkable doctor take over the practice Doctor Rebecca Marsden who was the kind of doctor that all doctors should be, strong, nobody’s fool whilst also being kind, gentle and compassionate. In a world where everything moves so fast and nobody seems to have anytime for anybody else Dr Marsden did. I was shocked to hear of her recent passing and my condolences to all her family, friends, and colleagues. May she Rest In Peace. Dr Marsden will never be forgotten, she too was well loved by all who knew her.

I hope that we don’t have to wait too long for our lovely friendly, well run practice to find us another doctor who comes form the same mould as these two remarkable ladies did.

Absolutely shocking practice. Favourite thing the reception like to say is "call back at 8am tomorrow". I try that about 50 times for an hour and after all the engaged ring tones then get told I can't make an appointment as it's fully booked, call back tomorrow at 8. Waste of time and probably be on the mend by the time you get seen to.

Poorly run surgery..Not been able to get an appointment for getting on for 3 years.I have been told to go to the walk in centre by the staff on more than one occasion. If I want an emergency appointment(Which is overkill), I need to ring in at 8.00 the next morning when everyone else is trying to do the same.I can't get a regular appointment for usually 3 weeks by which time what ever I've got has sorted its self.No surrounding surgeries will touch me as Thornton is my closest. Sorry but a big thumbs down . I wish I could change surgery but no one else will touch me out of my area.

The worst practice I attended to... Impossible to contact by phone, when you do online form and you get date of your phone appointment they don't call you anyway. Amazing service 👏👏😑

My Mum is nearly 90 and, while she's fabulous, she needs a lot of caring for. The receptionists at the practice go above and beyond listening, responding, acting upon and providing the best access to my Mum's GP. I can't praise the practice enough for their care, patience and communication skills.

A sign outside the mobile unit told you that there was CCTV and staff would be aware you were waiting as per covid regulations - you couldn't just walk in. So I stood outside for 5/10 minutes in the freezing cold having arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. Then I was called in - not welcomed. I had presumed that the unit was full of other people waiting for their screening but no..I was the only one there. Not a great start nor encouraging. There were 3 staff in total. I wasn't made to feel particularly welcome. After I gave my name and DOB I went through to the screening room and told to take my top off. I was rather embarrassed and told the young lady so. No explanation of how excruciating the actual machinery would be. No chat or making me feel at ease. It took a lot of gumption to go. I left feeling like I wanted to burst into tears. Staff really should learn some empathy and compassion. Not inclined to return for further screenings.

Incredible staff with a very welcoming approach. Lovely and hard working practice to be with. Best GP surgery I've been with.

Been waiting on an emergency supply of medication for two days
First day there was no appointments after them only being open for 10 minutes
This is after me having to wait for them have a GP in to get the original medication (What doctors doesn’t have a doctor?)
Finally I was told they shut at 12 today and that they’re going to give me a ring to tell me weather they’re putting it through today or if I HAVE TO RING UP AGAIN AT 8AM TOMORROW
What part of “emergency” don’t these people understand?
