Burscough Health Centre

As GP's go this one is very good. Sometimes you have to wait past your time but that is expected. Only had 1 or 2 very long waits in my time here. Staff are friendly and helpful.

I went to register at the surgery after moving into the area recently. I found the receptionist extremely rude and unhelpful. The female staff member advised that she did not think that I lived within the right boundary to register. When I queried this she then advised that there were other surgeries closer to my house ( in Burscough) and asked why I specifically wanted to register at the surgery. Unclear why I needed to explain this, however it made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Very disappointed with her poor attitude and unwelcoming approach to a potential new client and local resident. Unlikely to use this service or recommend

“The service from this practice has over recent years declined from that of a group of busy GPS who nevertheless gave a sympathetic, sensitive and compassionate service to that of busy professionals too concerned about their own practice issues and budgets, unable to listen effectively, consider the patient’s medical history and current context. Perhaps the practice can deal with the routine, physical, minor medical problems but their interest and knowledge about the more complex, mental health and emotional wellbeing issues seems limited. The latter is so important and likely to affect physical health/vulnerability.”

Staff are amazing . Doctors are lovely and I can always get an appointment if I ring in the morning . Highly recommend .

Been with this practice since before the health centre was built. In all those years I've only twice not been able to get a same day appointment and each occasion was when I rang late in the afternoon.. The staff are lovely from the receptionists to the senior doctors who take a personal interest in the patients. Can't fault them

I would of given zero stars if allowed. The staff are extremely rude and incompetent. I can't go into the specifics of the reason why, but let's just say a serious complaint is coming. Whoever is the practice manager needs to brush the staff up how to speak to people professionally. I literally wouldn't take a dog there!

Can not get to see a doctor at all, my taxe is paying for this extremely poor servicd

Receptionists gatekeep this place - its impossible to book an appointment without the receptionists wanting to discuss what's wrong with you before they decide if you can see the doctor or not. They also seem to decide on people's prescriptions, rather than the doctor and seem to know a lot of sensitive patient information that they shouldn't!
