This practice is awful. I moved to this practice from England and my whole experience has been bad. As a chronic illness patient , with multiple repeat medications I have been abandoned. My repeat prescriptions were not carried over from my last practice and in order to get my medication I would have to book an app with the doctor…in 3 weeks time! I was running out of medication already but this ‘ wasn’t urgent’. My requests for the medication I was currently on were rejected and I was left having to get a private prescription just so I wouldn’t be left with none of my meds. The receptionists told me different things every time I called, making me extremely confused. I have wasted so much time with this practice. In addition, the prescription system is flawed, you send an email and have no idea if they’ve received it so you have to pray they’ve processed it by the time you get to the pharmacy- most of the time it’s not there. You can never see a doctor in person let alone get a call from them. I’m sure the doctors are good but i wouldn’t know because I can never speak to one. My previous practice puts this practice to shame. I’m moving back to my old practice which I will point out is 4 hours away from me.

I was visiting my parents in Cardiff, meanwhile my 5year old had quite a bad ear ache therefore I needed her seen by a doc; while City surgery on city road refused to see her because they were ‘busy’ , Roath house surgery accepted to see my daughter. This relieved stress for me as a mother and I was just glad my daughter could get some help. Reception team were very kind and helpful over the phone too.

If there was an award for best surgery in Cardiff, Roath House surgery should receive it!! As a student I have moved around Cardiff a lot, and had at least 3 different surgeries… this is by far my favourite!! Very organised, professional and the most kind and supportive staff! The reception staff, doctors and nurses are all amazing, thanks for your service.
Only wish all surgeries were like this

Very disorganised. Had blood test about 7 months ago which showed very low iron. Was only told about this a month ago despite calling at the time. Between then and now no one thought to tell me until a month ago. Since then, iron levels were rechecked, when I called up to get the results was told my iron level was normal. On a follow up call I was told the test didn’t even check for iron (so someone lied to my face) - bare in mind this test was SPECIFICALLY meant to be for iron. I have given 2 stool samples and both went wrong and were rejected, was told this was because the ‘lab’ had messed up. I am now having to give another sample and get another blood test. Bare in mind I am having to wait about a month to rebook my bloods and a minimum a week to hear about the stool results (including if it’s been rejected again)It’s been about two months and I’m in a worse place then where I was before I saw them. They have screwed up over and over again and refuse to acknowledge it.

I always receive good service from this surgery. The staff are helpful and warm. I rang up this morning at 8am for an emergency appointment and I was able to get a physio appointment on the day.

I literally don’t know how people can write bad reviews about this place. Reception team are lovely, always polite, very helpful, always willing to have a conversation on arrival and over the phone. One lady in particular has made me laugh on more than one occasion. Yes they ask you what the problem is over the phone because they let the doctors know so they can triage, no they definitely do not think they are qualified, they are just doing their job. I have experienced bad receptionists and these are not at all.

The doctors and nurses are also really helpful, persistent in trying to get to the root of a problem and you feel like the problem has not been ignored after your appointments.

The surgery itself is so clean, well decorated and just makes you feel so comfortable.

Would recommend this place to anyone.

Just remember to treat other people the way you would want to be treated :)

This was my last GP and though getting through on the phone could take a long time I always found the reception staff nice to deal with. I had blood tests done and to get the results I had to be available for a phone call rather than the results being emailed or left in a voice message but that's pretty standard. Loads of services available. The waiting room is a decent size but a bit boring. :)
