Pont Newydd Medical Centre

Never had an issue with any of the doctors here but the one receptionist is an absolute joke, i didnt catch her name but she is extremely rude and after i explained to her that i had a telephone call with the doctor before the weekend for tonsillitis and was advised to book in to get antibiotics if it gets worse, she decided she was medically trained and told me they dont treat throats and i have to go to pharmacy! After pushing for an appointment she offered me one in 20mins time which i couldnt get to in time and then told me there is later apps available but i cant have a later one i have to take the first one available. So if u live further than 15mins away and dont drive dont bother booking in here. I said forget it and il ring in the morning with which she sarcastically said if you can wait until tomorrow you dont need an appointment. Very unprofessional and rude i will be making a complaint direct to the surgery this isnt the right way to talk to patients who are unwell.

I've only just joined this surgery in the last few months as my previous one closed but doctors and other members of the staff here have been very supportive and helpful so far. The waiting times for an appointment is a lot shorter than my previous surgery and there's quite a few more doctors or nurses available to see here. Theres plenty of parking places available and a there is also a pharmacy there which I think is helpful.

Spectacularly unhelpful receptionist who blocked all my attempts to speak to or see a GP. As I haven't seen a doctor in over 3 years it's not as if I am constantly requesting appointments and wasting GP's time. Kept insisting I must go online for an e-consultation. As I do not have internet access at home this would be impossible. No wonder people resort to going to A+E for treatment.

If I could give no stars I would. Call about a problem and get offered an appointment for 2 weeks times. No if I wanted an appointment for two weeks time I would Call in two weeks time. Ah well crippling agony shall remain with me!

Rung them up in the morning being in pain, lady couldn’t hear me and just hung up on me and never rung back :))) calling them back and have to wait ages just to see if I can see anyone today

I've been attending here for a year and had nothing but good service. The only gripe I have is that payments are only in cash, and considering there's no bank machines nearby it's really inconvenient.
The staff however are polite, the doctors and nurses I've seen have been efficient and friendly, and listened to what I've had to say.

So frustrating to get an appointment here. I'm registered with the on line appointments system which lately only tells you that no appointments are available and to ring the practice.
Ringing for appointment is a nightmare. Rang 15 times last week and didn't get to speak to anyone. Listening to recorded messages and the like is costly .

Update 21/4/21 trying in vain to book a appointment at Pontnewydd. Same old long winded messages and the very annoying voice telling me my call is number 7 in queue . Pathetic service. If there was another practice near me I'd be leaving ,unfortunately there's not .

After listening to the female senior doctor run through loads yo must do and then waite for reception ladies to answer, but they did not yesterday are the phones playing up. I telephoned 6 times today so I imagine their closed for the bank holiday. I'll try again tomorrow.
