Fantastic classes (3 on Sunday's) with a dedicated and remarkable teacher (and famous playwright ofc)! Aimed at providing a possible industry pathway for working class folks, but inclusive to all and at all levels. Encouraging & positive - whether you're simply looking to build up your confidence or getting back on the acting after years away, there's a level for you. Jim is super friendly & approachable, works a lot through the imagination but still covers so many other methods & styles of acting, he's incredibly well connected and before you know it, you'll be aiming for the stars and projecting loud enough to rattle Londoners' in their theatres!

I have been attending Jim's classes at Cartwright Drama Studio for over two years now and love them. Jim is so supportive and friendly, he fills you with confidence and is always ready to offer words of encouragement and advise. I felt extremely welcome from day one and haven't looked back. You are encouraged to use your imagination and share your talents, I have even had the confidence to write two monologues since attending the classes and I feel very proud of these. I would recommend Cartwright Drama Studio to anyone looking to act whatever ability they have.

Within months of attending classes I started working professionally, I now have an agent and with the support I've received from Jim and everyone else my career keeps growing.

It was with slight trepidation that I entered Jim Cartwright's drama class 20 months ago at the grand old age of 72 never having had an acting class in my life. My fears were completely unfounded. I was welcomed with open arms by the wonderful Jim Cartwright himself and his lovely friendly bunch of mainly younger students. These classes have proved to be one of the best things I have ever done and I just wish I had started earlier. We work mainly from the imagination but also cover other aspects of acting including improvisation and acting for screen. Jim makes the lessons fun and imaginative; he has given me so much confidence and through him I have learnt to believe in myself for which I thank him. In only 20 months I already have two stage shows and two films under my belt. I would have no hesitation in recommending Cartwright Drama Studios to anyone who is thinking of joining a drama class.

Jim's such a relaxed and easily accessible teacher. The rest of the students are so welcoming and accommodating and I've made genuine friends in the group. When I first started I was very shy speaking in front of groups but the classes have given me so much confidence in myself and my abilities. Can't recommend Cartwright Drama Studio enough :)

As an absolute beginner to acting I joined Jim’s class with much trepidation. I needn’t have worried. Jim teaches with creativity and passion whilst building confidence in an extremely supportive environment. This is a fantastic class with a fantastic teacher. I feel lucky to be able to witness Jim’s imagination and talent first hand.
