SP Electrical (Stroud) Ltd

I am currently in the process of selling my house and the prospective purchaser instructed SP Electrical (Stroud) to carry out an inspection of the property prior to exchange of contracts. An engineer from SP Electrical duly arrived and carried out a thorough inspection lasting almost two hours. The engineer concluded that the property had passed with the usual recommendations to update the fuse board to comply with the latest reg's at some time in the future.

You can imagine my surprise when a week later I received a phone call from the estate agents who informed me that the purchaser had been told by SP Electrical that the inspection had FAILED the property and that the purchaser was being asked for £700 to rectify the problems. This appears to be blatant touting for business and is something which is frowned upon by both the ECA and NIC trade associations. Shame on you SP Electrical. This could potentially have lost me my purchaser and if the purchaser hadn't contacted the estate agents none of us would have been any the wiser.

In a phone call to SP Electrical I was told that the engineer should not have discussed his findings with me, however, he did and his conclusion was that the property had PASSED the inspection only for that to be overturned by his superiors. He even put a sticker on the fuse board detailing when the next inspection should be carried out.

I don't think I'll be using SP Electrical at any time in the future.

Recommended - my office rewire was on-time and under budget. The electrician worked quickly and cleanly and with as little disruption as possible. Will no-doubt use again.

Just had a kitchen refitted and we also engaged SP Electrical of Stroud to carry out the electrical modifications required. From start to finish the communication between us was carried out very professionally, our quotation was delivered on time and very reasonable, not the cheapest but in my experience it's not always the best service. Dave the MD was very helpful and his staff were pleasant and polite. We had some slight problems as some appliance points needed to be moved due to the kitchen designer error but the electrician dealt with the extra small work without any dramas, particular thanks to Paul and Andy. Would thoroughly recommend using this company again.

We recently purchased a house and were highly recommended to use SP Electrical (Stroud) for a full and detailed electrical survey. Because of the complexities of the property we needed a very experienced company with a broad band width of not only the status and safety but also what would need to be done and timeline options for upgrading if any required.
We needed a very detailed and honest opinion and a full objective report.
We were over the moon to receive an incredible report, while it was not the best news as in the property needed extensive upgrading we were fully in the picture and were able to approach the vendor with an objective report. The vendor was actually very pleased to see such a detailed objective report rather than feeling we were as you say "trying it on".
The sale was completed and since then using the report has helped us budget and timeline the upgrade.

Your engineer was pleasant, knowledgable and resolved the issue quickly - he even put the boiler on a different RCD so we wouldn't be without heating if a similar problem reoccurred. I recently had SP electrical carry out various electrical jobs around my house, including installing new LED lights in the kitchen. The work was completed with minimum disruption. I will use them again.

SP Electrical recently carried out substantial electrical work at our circa 1850’s cottage, which included new consumer unit / fuse box, replacement wiring and cabling throughout plus new smoke alarms and outside security lighting, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I really liked the detailed quotation which was clear and concise and once approved they were able to carry out the work extremely quickly and efficiently, leaving everything clean and very tidy.
