Liars. Will never use again. They appear professional and I really wanted to like this company, I was hoping to have found someone reliable, but unfortunately no. Lies and mistakes made both times they came to my house. I really don't like leaving bad reviews, but the company requested that I review their work and I feel this is warranted.
First time, for upgrade to consumer unit and safety inspection. After the work was completed. One RCBO in consumer unit had a burn mark on it. Down light was removed for inspection and they lost the retaining spring, didn't tell me and just jammed it back up into the fitting. Plus incorrect labelling on consumer unit, potentially dangerous. All these issues were rectified a few days later. Annoying that they couldn't get this simple stuff right the first time.
Second time. Came back to do another safety inspection/test due to problems with previous test certificate, offered to do it for free, which was really good of them, I won't go into all the reasons. No issues at the house this time, but the inspection report says: "The smoke detectors... are all out of manufacturers use date". I went to check, and printed on the side of each detector it says: "Replace by: May 2030" . And of course they quoted me for replacements, trying to scare me into doing work that doesn't need to be done.
That's the story, you make up your own mind whether you want to use this company or not. From the other reviews I appear to be in the minority, which is great, I honestly hope that they can learn from this and move forward better. But I will not be using them again.
Update to response from owner: The original labelling on the consumer unit was dangerous. I stand by my statement because if I had not flagged this up the incorrect labelling would have remained, making it very easy for anyone working on the electrics to inadvertently work on a live circuit when they thought they had turned it off. I am an engineer trained in working on electric systems, not an electrician, so I understand about proving dead prior to commencing work. But I still feel that incorrect labelling on any electrical isolation system is dangerous, especially in a domestic environment where untrained people may come into contact with it.
I have sent photos of the smoke detectors to them, but I don't require them to correct the fire certificate, I will get someone else to do it.
The rest of the review stands, that is my experience with this company.

I was very impressed by this company. Answered my email promptly, had great knowledge and flexible on dates. Fast !!! Great engineer called Ed. Young enthusiast and patient. Funny was a bit put off by the name but that’s a me thing. Excellent would highly recommend.

Really impressive service. From initial call to arrival of electrician in under 2 hours. Service was prompt, efficient and polite and they went out of their way to make room between jobs to fit us in. Really excellent - thank you.

All emails were promptly answered and there was time made for option discussions and sufficient information provided to make an informed decision. The installation date was arranged in advance so that it was convenient. Lee who installed the EV charger arrived on time, was friendly and polite and worked diligently leaving no mess behind. The EV charger App was set up on my smartphone and explained and I was all good to go. I would definitely contact Mr Electric with other Elecrical concerns - Thank you

The work done by the electrician was very good.
But then after a while, there has been issue with a fire detector that hasn't been handled properly in my opinion, because for the amount of a fire detector instead of changing it and refurbished the old one after it would have been checked. They didn't provide any alternative other than wait and each time that you have a fire detector that beeps during few hours then it is normal... Really?!?!?
Then also a switch choice wasn't the right one and the answer was, that the switch wasn't compatible with the current bulbs (which worked when installed) and instead of providing a correct one without extra costs or a reset, Mr Electric proposed to fix their error by asking for an extra expense. In my opinion this is not professional.
That's a pity because the work has been done properly but to save a few pounds on cheap material they sacrifice their reputation. I would have asked for more work from them, but now I am not, because of the above.
For those who continue to ask their services I wish you good luck!
To Mr Electric I am keen on revising this review but without extra expenses :)

The team at Mr Electric were friendly, professional and did a fantastic job on my old cottage. Despite the increased demand due to the pandemic, they tried their best to accommodate my needs and even stepped in on two occasions at very short notice - once for an emergency - and went above and beyond to help me out (even the admin went out of their remit to help and it was incredibly appreciated).

Mr Electric Cornwall & South Devon fitted a charger for my electric car. My experience with the company was very positive from my initial contact to fitting the charger. Steve took the time to understand my requirements and carefully explained what was needed. The office staff were very efficient and made the whole process very straightforward. I would recommend Mr Electric Cornwall & South Devon.
