Tom was originally hired to complete a full re-wire for a 4 bed house. We were quoted a set fee for the entire job based on a very detailed electric plan which was provided on day 1.

PROBLEM 1 — MONEY
Our initial meeting was positive and Tom worked hard during the initial 3-day phase with a sub-contractor and their two apprentices. It wasn't until later in the re-wire when Tom started hinting that things would cost extra. On several occasions, my wife and I explained to Tom that nothing extra had been added to the original plan. We can only presume that Tom under-quoted the job (which was not our fault). After an email from Tom promising that he would complete the job as original quoted, we paid him 85% of this total fee (several thousand pounds). As soon as he received our money, he ignored all calls/emails and walked off the job leaving us with no lights on the 1st or 2nd floor.

PROBLEM 2 — NAPIT LICENCE SUSPENDED
We decided to contact NAPIT who temporarily suspended Tom's licence based on our evidence (photos, emails and bank details). He was forced to sign off areas of our house he worked in.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS
• Tom forgot to run a cable for the double oven, so we had to take down kitchen ceiling (plaster board and insulation). He also forgot to run a cable for lights in the kitchen island.
• Cables were not run flat against walls which were to be dot and dabbed.
• We were made to wait 10 days for our hob to be wired and couldn't cook during this time.
• We had to re-paint our kitchen ceiling due to dirt from second fixing the downlights.
• An electric cable was run OVER a steel beam, meaning the floorboard couldn't be put back.
• Two fans were not screwed properly to the wall. Tom didn't even connect them to the vent pipe!
• Chased walls were not filled (as stated in the contract).
• For all of the above, Tom NEVER apologised or took responsibility for his work. Poor tradesmen with zero customer service.

In case Tom replies to this review denying any of the above, I would be more than willing to share our electric plan, quote, emails, photos, etc.
