PJ Hi-Fi Guildford

Well what can I say “I am a very happy new customer of PJ Hi Fi”. I have walked passed this shop for the past 16 years on my way to work. When I decided to buy my first turntable after 30 years with a small budget I popped in to see if I could get some advice. Andy Holt the Manager was fantastic, he did not make me feel that my lack of knowledge was a disadvantage. We talked through the options for my budget, and I am extremely happy with the decision we came to. Without Andy’s advice I would still be looking now!! If I feel the need to upgrade I would not hesitate to return to this great shop and Andy’s knowledge and advice.

Andy Holt has been in a word "Awesome" as a guide and coach who has given honest advice and more often than not convinced me to not spend money unnecessarily but more importantly when I do spend money with them the results like Andy's advice is simply awesome! Just upgraded my cartridge after a little accident and Andy advised me what to buy, set it up for me and the results are Night and Day. The cartridge has brought out hidden detail in my system and musicality and clarity are massive increased. Went to compare some speakers that were c£5-6K. Nice demo room, and able to get one with listening to tracks using a streamer. Staff were friendly.

Slightly disappointed as I arrived for my appointment as arranged, but the system was not set up ready (I saw no other customers). In the meantime I listened to some vinyl which was crackly and scratchy. Had a few problems with the streamer and for a while and needed to be logged back in. Maybe I am a bit fussy (like many self-confessed HiFi lovers) but I would have expected things to be ready and work effectively.

I would go back, but I've been to many such independent and chain retailers for this sort of purchase, and going by others, I think this should have been better. I ended up buying one of the speakers heard but from a different authorised dealer. Pity i was ready to buy from PJH but this put me off.

The guys at PJ specially ordered a set of Isoacoustics Gaia speaker supports. They came in short order, quicker than any of the online suppliers. Premium service. Thanks Nick.

I had a really positive experience buying a Rega System One from Richard and Nick. They were both very knowledgeable and friendly. The set up I went for in the end was a far better listen than my original short list - definitely worth while doing the audition before purchase. Richard really went above and beyond by dropping first the system around to my house and then swapping out the supplied 2m speaker cables for 4m at no extra cost. Highly recommended.

Has used a number of times, very helpful staff and great service with high quality products.

Great service. Took in my new (old) 70s turntable. I bought a new 2M blue cartridge from them that was fitted and tested by them while I waited. Walked away with an old turntable getting a new lease of life. Very friendly and highly recommended.

Thoughtful and helpful service - got my old Ariston turntable repaired, running perfectly and took the time to make sure things were right. Mike has a good understanding of these older technologies and he is enthusiastic about preserving older hi-fi.
