Went on a training course here. An impressive building, rooms with chandeliers, an excellent venue for courses and at the back of the house, from the entrance side, there are views of a sculpted landscape with the M23 in the distance (some traffic noise however). The back of the house was thus a nice place to sit when the sun was out.

set in stunning rolling hills grounds, the place offers a wide range of areas to host large events and weddings. a large field area to the side offers space to place a marquee with room to spare. inside, several rooms lead onto a spacious rear patio. a large sweeping stair case offers views along the corridor on the ground floor, giving a unique look down on your guests. winding paths to the rear give you a small woodland walk, great to get those wedding snaps. parking is extensive and gives guest plenty of space. a lovely venue for large and small events alike

Thank you to Nic and all the team for making my 60th birthday party so memorable. The venue was amazing. Great atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The evening went without a hitch and so many people commented on a great event. Thank you for all your hard work

Attended a wedding at this venue today. Lots of parking which was very spacious. The venue has numerous rooms; we used 3 for kids lunch, adult lunch and disco/buffet; toilets are located upstairs. Just over 100 people attended so not all were able to fit in one room so used what seemed to be the passage way for the bridal party table and a couple of other tables. Couple of complaints - one member of staff was having an ice cream and accidential grazed my suit jacket on the back whilst i was ordering a drink at the bar outside. He never said anything, but i saw the reaction in his face that something happened. I got my drink and walked off, took off my jacket and saw the ice cream stain. I washed it off and tried to find the culprit but he had disappeared. Other issue was the bar staff later on in the evening or lack of. Waiting around for must have been 1 hour after 9pm for someone to serve drinks. Shocking really that no staff were around. You would expect service for the entire length of the event, but sadly this wasn't the case. Due to staff not being in attendance i would not recommend this venue.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in July 2019. We wanted our reception in a marquee, and it had a big ground for it so it was perfect for us. We fell in love with the place as soon as we saw it, it is amazing; we met with Charlotte in June of 2018, who was the events manager. She promised us that she would be there every step of the way and we need not to worry about anything; she would help us with looking for suppliers and would coordinate the wedding on the day, but Charlotte left 3 months before our wedding without any warning.They didn’t even think to have the courtesy of informing us. The person who took over her job did not have a clue and we had to go through everything all over again. And to top it all off, we did not have anyone coordinating the wedding on the day, all the suppliers had to come to us to ask questions, even the little things like where the power supply is, which added unnecessary stress. We had to pay a lot of money for extras like ice and they wanted to charge us £2500 to use their glasses!
In conclusion, the cost for hiring the venue is competitively affordable but it is basically a dry hire and they overly charge you for anything else; similar to a no-frills flight. They have poor communication, they over-promise and under-deliver. They made us feel like they did not actually care about us and we were made to feel like an inconvenience, that it was easier for them to just say yes to everything without actually doing anything. We would only recommend this venue if you do not require any assistance, whatsoever in your wedding planning, if you like the frustration of not receiving replies to your emails/queries, if you enjoy chasing people for weeks before you get a response and if you want the unnecessary stress and extortionate charges for extras.

At the end of September my wife and I had a party at Robert Denholm House for 80 guests. From the very start we were given information and advice on planning all aspects of the event culminating in a final meeting with Nic to confirm the details. On the evening itself we were constantly being congratulated on our choice of venue. It is a beautiful building which lends itself seamlessly from a lively dance floor to a quieter area for people to sit and chat. Nic and his team couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and efficient and the evening went without a hitch. We had a wonderful time that was echoed by our guests.

We had our civil service at the house and reception in a marquee on the grounds and it was a beautiful location, we originally picked the venue for their capacity. However Nic, Ellese and all the staff at RDH are the real gems at the venue. They helped reduce the usual stress involved the planning process with patience and support. On the day they were amazing in their attention to detail and personal touches. Sarah the bar manager would check in us during the whole evening to ensure we were having a good time and providing help wherever required. We loved our day and would highly recommend this venue. Massive thank you to them all!!
