Big Lamp Chippy

My husband has just been in here. The food is appalling. Cold rubber chips which I am sure have been warmed up. The fish was greasy. Could not get it from the paper to a plate. Never using this place again.

Pleasant space in the centre of the town. Put up a great sheltered area and stage for the performers. Had great street food as well!

My wife wanted some chippy chips to go with the curry so ordered me to go to Big Lamp, run by Chinese but sells English chippy food so chips should be good. Staff were nice but the portion size was tiny (a large was not even enough for me let alone everyone else) and had been out for sometime. I really want to give them a second chance but i dont know if its worth the gamble because the portion really was small and if i drove a little further could of got a much larger portion for same price.

Lovely little chippy, I have been going there for years. Really friendly staff and nice food.

It’s not often I put a bad review at all but we ordered a mixture of pies pudding & chips… ALL the pies were raw & cold not cooked at all the chips were like rubber pretty much had to put it all in the bin worst chippy we’ve ever been to. Please check what you are sending out in future this was unacceptable and can make people ill!!!

Went for Cheese pie chips and curry. The curry was bland and runny, the chips weren’t anything special so when I decided to just leave those and eat the cheese pie it snapped my fork. I then picked it up to bite it and it was solid. Probably reheated for days until I got it. Wouldn’t mind if it was cheap but they’re charging more than anyone else in town.
What was once a good chippy is now a place to avoid.

Got 2 portions of fish and chips one with gravy and one with curry. Both were lovely, the chips were really nice and fresh and the fish tasted lovely with a good coating of batter all round and it was crisp even after a 15 minute drive. Staff were very friendly and lovely as well :). Will happily return for a good chippy 😋

First time here, I live minutes around the corner and was put off by some of the reviews but I went in anyway. I arrived around 11:30ish. I ordered chips and gravy and a chip bap.. I have to say I was so impressed with the food, it was as hot and tasty, portion sizes were generous plus the service was very quick! It cost me £5.10 but would of cost me £4.90 if there wasn't a little 20p charge for using card which I was happy to pay anyway.
