The West End Fish Bar

Love this chippy! Great food. Fish is huge and just all round, a great chippy. Tad more expensive than some other chippy shops BUT well worth it for the fresh fish. Only one thing they could do is maybe give meal deal offers at night not just at lunch. But they do cook a mean fish! Nuff said 👍

Excellent chips every time and great portion sizes. Fish is always the right texture and well bartered. Only ever had friendly service from the attentive staff.

Fish isn’t cooked to order. Ask for a freshly cooked one for the guy to have a go about they are freshly cooked. Sorry mate but I want a crispy fish not a soggy one. The girls serving really nice just a shame the owner is always watching over them like a hawk making her feel under pressure

I have always used this Chippy as up until recently I have always been very happy. However the last couple of times, I feel I have wasted my money. Cold, limp chips, greasy fish and tasteless gravy. The one star was for the curry sauce, they had ran out of mushy peas and it would be 10 mins or more if I wanted to wait for some. No thank you, the rest of our order was bagged up. A big let down, I won't be recommending West End again.

Not the quality it used to be when the owner was on site.
Cold chips again last week imo because they leave the hatch open all the time so its pot luck if fresh ok otherwise not so.
Just been in, waited with no one else in the shop whilst guy who does the frying ( mr grumpy ) stopped playing on his mobile in the back and ordered 2 lightly battered fish as usual, watched him put 2 nice looking fish in which then seemed to take ages to cook while the guy went back to his chair and phone.
So Very pleasant young lady Got my order and off I go only to get home and fish are totally overcooked and dry as a bone in a desert.
It's such a shame because I've been going here for years but now its hit and miss and it's just not good enough sorry

steak pudding chips and peas the steak pudding was freezing and the peas are like hard bullets yuk only went in there as noblets was closed never again

If you like big positions you will love this place and the food is good too
