Smiles Fish and Chips

I’ve been going to this chip shop for at least 15 years and it was always the best chip shop around, even when smiles took over from Kings it was still amazing and the proof was in the pudding. The queue’s used to be down the whole parade but it was worth the wait. I kept trying them over the course of a fair few months hoping they’ll go back to what they used to be but the last few times it’s been awful. The worst chips I’ve ever had and again today they were horrible. So much so I just threw it all away and have resorted to writing a review. I must add I never write reviews on anything ever but I feel so strongly about this and I hope people see this and don’t waste their time or money. I wouldn’t even give it a 1 star but you have to unfortunately. The only upside is you get served straight away because there is never a queue anymore. There’s a Jacks fish and chip shop in Shepperton. It may be a lot further away and you may end up with cold food by the time you get home but it’ll still be better than what you get from here.

I had an immense craving for fish and chips today. This shop, being a 3 min walk from my place of work, was the obvious choice. The service was good. It wasn’t a busy and I got my food hot and in good time. That was the only good thing about it. The fish was tasteless and the chips were just awful. Not worthy of consumption. They were hard and chewy and stale and just wrong. ‘Twas the worst £9.35 I spent - EVER!

Moved away from Staines and struggled to find a descent chip shop. I now travel the extra distance to go here as lovely service from ladies food always lovely. I'm telling everyone I can about this place best chip shop around and not over priced. Thanks guys

No smiles from me!
Customer service poor, click and collect prioritised even when there’s a big que outside (bank hol - not much open) owner/staff playfighting behind the fryers, while one person simultaneously tried to manage the que and click and collect orders. Doesn’t portray the look of a business that cares about its customers.
Chips - so so.

I waited 20 minutes for an order of chicken breast and chips after being warned that the order will take 5 minutes.
I also found very disrespectful the action of serving food to people who had ordered after me.
I don't usually like to complain, I never do, but I chose this place because it is close to my work and I hoped it wouldn't take so long as the order was very simple and fast.
The food was ok tho

Great value meal for the family. Fish was cooked to order and delicious. Chips tasted great.

Been using this place for over 20 years and was always the best Chip shop around by far, even after Smiles took over but has gradually been in decline. Portions are smaller chips are greasy and after tonight’s food will seriously consider where to go for my next fish and chip take out.
Ordered mince beef and onion pie (simply not cooked and stone cold), chips greasy and under cooked, cod had soggy batter and the pork rib which I had ordered for the first time was just disgusting, over cooked tough and really fatty. Even the dog didn’t want it. Waste of £27.

Very good food and service but this place has gone off the boil a bit. The prices have increased a lot more than inflation so I don't go as often, £10 for a cod and chips is pricey albeit the fish is quite good.

Also I often have to wait ages for chips nowadays whereas I used to not have to wait long.
