Fantastic fish and chips were very tasty.

Would have given 5 stars if the potatoes/chips were the type that had a flavour. The chips were very nice but could have been a better good size though. Fish tasty, batter crispy but not well done, cooked to perfection. Seemed to only get a half-sized fish. Both fried fresh. Fish and chips £6.50

The owner was very friendly. He came to our table and chatted with us. Shared his mini eggs chocolate with us as well.

Low score because the curry sauce was put in the bag sideways in the bag and had leaked all over our food. Fish and chips were lovely but very dry as we couldn't scrape the curry from the inside of the bag and off the cartons.

The best qualitity fish and chips ever staff are fantastic lots of things to choose. I have to rate them 5* as its our favourite place to eat when on holiday my boys love this place.
We have been eating there for years and qualitity has always been the same. 😁😋😋😋😋

Would’ve given 5 stars, but the potato chips had to be matching the quality of the cod.

Was overall a great dining experience.
Myself and my family of six were welcomed to the restaurant and assisted getting my young daughter in with her pushchair up some small steps. Food service was fast.
Food was amazing and of high quality, not greasy at all like some other shops. Cod and chips highly recommended. A range of smaller meals for little mouths which were also of the same standard. I would like to thank the gentleman who took the time for the the personal service and took the time to talk to all my children and go that extra mile as it was such a wonderful end to a already perfect day.
Really are the best fish and chips in Wales.

We had cod, chips and mushy peas today, dining-in, and the meal was among the best chippy meals we've ever had. The chips were crispy, which is rare, the fish batter was good and crispy and the fish itself not wet like you get at some places. The peas were really good too. We've been to Barmouth many times... Why have we not tried the Mermaid before??

No, but it is pretty darn good. Chunky fish, potatoey chips, lovely peas and curry.

Wish they squirted a little less vinegar on the fish, mine got so much the batter broke off and I thought it would come back to life at some point.

Service was pretty good considering the long queue.

Best chippy on Barmouth bar none!! Don't waste your time going anywhere else. The cues say it all. Lovely chips that have got good colour on them so properly cooked and the fish is to die for! This is the only place I go to when I come to Barmouth. The portions are great size and for £3.15 for small mini fish and chips is great value! And just enough to fill you up if you don't have a huge appetite. Just a stones throw away from the beach, so grab your food and grab a bench by the sea front and enjoy! And with a 5 star hygiene rating why would you go anywhere else?!
