Helmsman Fish & Chips

I want thank Marcos and his team for doing an absolutely marvellous job. Last Friday night, Fishy Delishy at Potters Bar fulfilled my order for 42 Cod and Chips at 6.45pm. This food was ordered for a reception at my house for relatives and friends, mostly visiting from the USA. The fish could not have been fresher, and the food could not have been hotter ! Presented in really professional fish and chip boxes along with sachets of ketchup and tatar sauce, our guests thought the portion size and quality of the food was first class. I can't thank Fishy Delishy enough for such excellent service !!!!

Excellent food, always cooked fresh to order, had a large and small cod which was actually as described not a small cod in large clothes. Not a long wait too. Prices are reasonable, and they even sell curry sauce 👍🏼

This place is the greatest taste if you’re looking for a traditional fresh British fish and chips.

Everything was made to order and it was all “fresh” which you hardly see nowadays. There really is a difference between eating a fresh cod and one that has been fried 3-4 times on the day. All the sides & sauces were also homemade which is a massive plus from me.

The staff were very friendly and at times I felt overly looked after. The manager Johnny also greeted us and asked for feedback.

Being a local I can say that Hellmsman is a great addition to the area with very reasonable prices. I highly recommend you try this place out.

“Fresh chips, 5 minutes”. Fresh chips always worth a little wait.
I returned ,chips ready, drove home. But these were Not freshly cooked , possibly left overnight from lunch time. Yet had waited 5 minutes for these.There had been an accident on Mutton lane otherwise I would have returned. I did ring , “sorry, come and collect some fresh ones now” .
We will not be using the Helmsman again. Would you?

Have come here many times and used to be great… now there is an issue every time. They recently charged me for the food forgot one fish and when I went back charged me another £9 for a meal they forgot and made it my fault. Horrible service and soggy undercooked chips (which were cold after Waiting another 20 minutes for my fish) and the mushy peas were essentially green water…

Time wasters get off deliveroo if you're too lazy to accept the order. Hope you go bust

Had large fish and chips ordered to eat in, waited 20 minutes cooked fresh, was so overcooked threw 60% in bin, oil tasted old and past it best. Will not be eating in or ordering takeaway again.

Have had cod and chips three times now from the Helmsman and have never been disappointed. Freshly cooked and very generous portions and delicious. Thank you
