The cafe opens after 8am and closes really early in the afternoon so isn’t inclusive of those who work a 9-5 job and come really early to train or after work which is hugely disappointing to say the least considering the size of the cafe seating area and the culture shifting towards more people working towards working from home/ their laptop.
Overall a great site with lots of equipment, space and an incredible vegan fast food caravan directly outside which is great temptation from time to time. I think Virgin could do some sort of collaboration with them in order to provide more vegan options in their cafe also as it’s so disappointing that despite the global climate crises/ warming, the huge demand in London and not to mention the huge percentage of the population that is trying to reduce meat, dairy and egg consumption it’s disappointing to see that they only offer sandwiches/ wraps with only one vegan option and that too not very healthy or appetising at all after trying.
Definitely a lot of room for improvement, refurbishment and innovation in terms of space, services and food options.
Today was my last day with Virgin Active and that’s only because I’m moving and the nearest Virgin Active to my new address is a two hour trip each way.
Shame really as I’ve really enjoyed being a member.
Access is on street level and the entry doors are automatic. There are lifts that go to all levels.
Reception staff are polite, friendly and helpful.
Overall I found the place to be clean and tidy. I can’t speak for the ladies changing rooms but the mens are kept clean and tidy.
There are some issues with toilets/ urinals and showers but that more a building issue than the fault of Virgin Active.
I tended to go between 09:00-16:00 Mon-Fri and have never found the gym to be too crowded; weekends can be busier.
It has an area for weights, area for cardio and they hold various classes.
On ground level there is a swimming pool, jacuzzi pool, sauna and steam room.
There is also a cafe and lounge area.
Overall a really nice place to go too.
This is irrefutable and I am astonishingly dismayed this hasn't been resolved when us members pay such a handsome sum demonstrating our custom is not valued!!!!
Disappointing!!!
All the staff are super lovely and welcoming, always saying hello and checking in to see if I need any help!
Josh in particular was super helpful when it came to setting up my membership! If you are hesitant about signing up, do enquire with him about a tour as that’s what really sold it for me!
It may be a bit more expensive than other gym chains but it is 100% worth paying the extra money!! The gym is a great size and the variety of equipment and fitness classes means I can do something different every day of the week should I want to! Chloe, my wonderful PT, even makes working out at 7am enjoyable!! The fact the gym has a (dance) studio and spa is also a huge bonus for me.
Lastly, I have always felt super safe when working out here, I’ve very rarely had any problems with men (or other women) pestering me/staring etc (which was a real problem at my last club). If there ever has been an issue the staff have always been absolutely great at dealing with the situation so I can feel comfortable whilst working out!
- Steam room has been broken for ages
- No towels on a few occasions
- Lovely barre studio that hasn't seen a barre class in years.
- Temp Car park flooded and dark in winter, not in Virgin's control but what we pay should reflect that.
