It's a great, welcoming and fun atmosphere and part of a community that you don't find often.
Classes cover all abilities and levels. Come and join us!
Then it happened that I heard she was doing dedicated Capoeira music classes, and as music is my favourite part of Capoeira, I had to check out myself as I needed a bit more advanced music class. I am so glad I made that decision to go and visit Capoeira Bemvindo, it’s been interesting to see how much she grew as a capoerista and teacher over a decade.
It’s been a few years that I am attending regular music classes with Paulinha and my music skills have increased a lot. I am more confident playing and singing, I have not problems in performing in official rodas, and Paulinha is always there supporting us and giving any opportunity to learn and grow.
The group is really lovely, it’s kind a small family where everyone help each other. The name Bemvindo it says all, it welcomes everyone from any capoeira background. I train capoeira contemporanea with another group and I’ve been learning so much about Capoeira Angola, traditions and Brazilian culture I did not have idea before. Paulinha has also the support of two advanced students Zoe and Matt that help her with the teaching making things interesting in a different way.
I would definitely recommend you to visit her school for both movements and musical training as you would not be disappointed. Another good point to mention is the monthly rodas Capoeira Bemvindo organise, it’s always good fun and perfect place to practice what we have learned in class.
Of course you can use the classes for general fitness. There will be a warm up followed by conditioning activities, sequence practice, pair work and a mini roda to cement what you have learned.
