I've been attending this class with Paulinha for over 2 years now and it's always a highlight of the week, her strong relationship and knowledge of Capoeira make her classes challenging and interesting, I always leave with new additions to my practice.

It's a great, welcoming and fun atmosphere and part of a community that you don't find often.

Classes cover all abilities and levels. Come and join us!

I first met Paulinha in 2009, we trained a few months together then our paths went to different directions.
Then it happened that I heard she was doing dedicated Capoeira music classes, and as music is my favourite part of Capoeira, I had to check out myself as I needed a bit more advanced music class. I am so glad I made that decision to go and visit Capoeira Bemvindo, it’s been interesting to see how much she grew as a capoerista and teacher over a decade.
It’s been a few years that I am attending regular music classes with Paulinha and my music skills have increased a lot. I am more confident playing and singing, I have not problems in performing in official rodas, and Paulinha is always there supporting us and giving any opportunity to learn and grow.
The group is really lovely, it’s kind a small family where everyone help each other. The name Bemvindo it says all, it welcomes everyone from any capoeira background. I train capoeira contemporanea with another group and I’ve been learning so much about Capoeira Angola, traditions and Brazilian culture I did not have idea before. Paulinha has also the support of two advanced students Zoe and Matt that help her with the teaching making things interesting in a different way.
I would definitely recommend you to visit her school for both movements and musical training as you would not be disappointed. Another good point to mention is the monthly rodas Capoeira Bemvindo organise, it’s always good fun and perfect place to practice what we have learned in class.

I love Paulinha's classes. She's a brilliant teacher who will encourage you to do your best and a bit more. I joined because of my curiosity about capoeira and a need to do something to keep fit, but since then I have learned more about the music and history of capoeira. Be warned the Bemvindo regulars are very welcoming!

Of course you can use the classes for general fitness. There will be a warm up followed by conditioning activities, sequence practice, pair work and a mini roda to cement what you have learned.

I started training with Bem-vindo a year ago and it has really been the most wonderful year! Our teacher Paulinha brings her inspiring energy and wealth of knowledge to the classes, which she tailors to the level of her students. Each lesson we train different sequences, movements and techniques in order to improve our game. The classes are multifaceted, focusing not only on the physical aspect of capoeira, but Paulinha also places an important emphasis on the music and songs of this beautiful artform. I have tried quite a few different Capoeira groups, but this is by far one of the most friendly and welcoming ones I have been to. I guarantee you will leave Paulinha's class with a smile on your face and buzzing with energy. I am so delighted and honoured to be a part of the friendly and inclusive Bem-vindo family! Thank you!

I've had the pleasure of attending several of Paulinha's classes and Bemvindo events. The level of teaching exceptional, attentive to students of all levels and extremely professional (on time, knowledgeable & extremely good value). The group as whole is friendly, inclusive, respectful and you instantly feel welcomed, even if you are not a regular student. I would recommend Bemvindo to anyone wanting to experience capoeira in a fun, professional and safe environment!

Paulinha's classes are not to be missed! I started training with the Bemvindo group some years ago and it was the perfect fit - I was looking for something that would challenge me, keep me physically fit and exercise my brain. I was hooked from the first class! I was never good at gymnastics as a kid so being able to do headstands and cartwheels, while learning the beautiful angola movements, music and culture helped me achieve things I could never imagine. Paulinha creates a welcoming and fun atmosphere to learn so you can keep developing your art in every class. And it's not just about the training - I feel so proud to be a part of this community and make lifelong friends.
