I Purchased my car from here and paid 14k upfront, the alloys were curbed and needed repair, I was told the alloys would be completely repainted but this wasn’t the case instead there on site smart repair guy did a Poor job on the wheels and just blew on some paint over the edges I immediately made it clear I wasn’t happy with the wheels and was told that they would be re-done, 12 months later and here I am writing my review, I have tried contacting gates of St Albans regarding this issue, I have sent emails to the branch these have been forwarded to management by Neil since then I have made numerous phone calls over the past 12 months to try and get the matter resolved and have always been told the manager is busy and he will call you back I have been constantly having to put up with this very poor and unhelpful customer service for 12 months and I would like to think that this is not acceptable behaviour in a place such as Gates Ford, as a customer I feel completely let down by this dealership upon purchasing the car I had incredible customer service from Neil Who was very helpful and supportive throughout but unfortunately as soon as they had my money that’s where the great customer service stopped. I have tried to resolve this through the branch on many occasions and found that they haven’t resolved the matter and have simply chosen to just ignore me as I have had absolutely no reply to my calls or emails. I have attached pictures of my alloys and the permanent staining to the alloys that I have to put up with due to the poor smart repair which was carried out, I was hoping to resolve this Matter without legal action but with over 12 months of chasing the branch what option do I have..... I had previously left 1 star review but I have updated to 3 stars because immediately after leaving this review I was contacted by Guilford Tulloch the Aftersales Manager who dealt with this instantly and had my wheels completely repaired within a week which I believe is outstanding considering all that I have previously stated. I am very thankful and the wheels look amazing, I just wish that I would have left a review sooner to get all this resolved many thanks to Guilford Tulloch you were very professional

The service department is appalling. My car needed work done under warranty which was going to take some time and at first they refused to give me a hire car. An email to the MD was what it took to stop myself and my kids being stranded for a month. When they gave me the car back it immediately broke down again and then had an intermittent engine management fault light. I took the car back numerous times and each time was told there was no fault and once was even told the light coming on was simply a “feature” of my car. Despite the car still being in warranty I eventually gave up (even a letter to the MD didn’t help this time) and took my car elsewhere. They managed to diagnose the fault within the hour and have me back on the road as soon as the new part arrived. The purchase of this car has been the worst mistake of my life and has caused me months of stress and in the end money despite being warranted.

Service good. Not at all impressed by the way a member of staff was berated in front of another colleague and myself, a member of the public. The manner of this dressing down was harsh and rude and, quite frankly, unprofessional. This tends to give an unfavourable impression of the company.

I left a bunch of messages last week asking to speak to the motability representative, they never got back to me. They called me today asking for a James! Talk about unorganized.

Avoid Evans Halshaw St Albans! They sell cars that have issues straight away. They offer to fix them but their communication is appalling. Nothing but issues with the vehicle we purchased, could not have gone through proper checks. A part they were meant to send us ages ago has not materialised and am sick of chasing it.

I would advise people to go elsewhere. Waited 9 months for a Ford Puma. (Expected 5 months).

So our brand new car came 6 weeks before the next plate is due to hit the road.

Got lied to over and over again service team extremely bad no customer service what’s so ever. No vehicle offered. Work was two days then started a day late 4 days later another day then 1 more day then would u believe just one more day.
Best thing you could do is avoid this garage and go somewhere else.
