We were very impressed with the extremely efficient but sympathetic service we received from B Matthews Funeral Directors. Lisa was very prompt with dealing with all our requests and the order of service was beautiful. On the day the funeral director was brilliant constantly letting me know the events in the church and then at the burial. The ground removed for the burial was symathetically covered up and everything was done at our pace. Would definitely recommend them.

We recently used B Mathews at Park Gate after our father sadly passed away, Lisa in the office, was really helpful from the start and all the way through the entire process. We found the help given made the planning of the funeral much more bearable at a very difficult time. Neil was a huge help on the funeral day. We would recommend using B Matthews for all your funeral needs. All the staff were very professional and delivered a high quality of service. Thank you for the perfect send off for my father.

Lisa at B Matthews arranged both my Mum and Dad's funerals in quick succession. She guided us through the process from start to finish on both occasions making the task more manageable during a very difficult time. Lisa recommended Charlie Keene for the funeral officiant and he gave my parents the send off they deserved, don't underestimate the difference a quality officiant makes to a funeral. I would not hesitate to recommend Lisa. From the outset she made us feel that she genuinely cared about our loss and worked hard to make the process as painless as possible. There were a number of issues totally outside of Lisa's control and yet she remained solution focused and always acted in our best interests. Lisa always kept us informed and acted with compassion and integrity. We felt that we were in a safe pair of caring hands.

Lisa and her team were extremely helpful and professional. Communication from the funeral home was prompt and the service was exceptional. They handled all the details of the funeral from arranging flowers to finding a piper. I would highly recommend them.

As a family we have used B Matthews for 4 funerals now, 2 of which I have arranged, one in 2015 and one last month. Both times they have always been ever so helpful, I will speak on the most recent funeral. Lisa has dealt with me from the start and has done everything she can to help me from organising the funeral, to going in to say goodbye to my mum I have felt so much at ease with her helping and organising things for me. Finanically funerals aren’t cheap but that’s the same everywhere, they work with you within your budget and ensure it’s still the best it can be wether it’s minimal or a bit more. The service itself was beautiful and just how we wanted it. Even after the funeral Lisa has checked in to make sure everything went ok and if there’s anything she can do. Couldn’t recommend them enough and if for any reason I have to plan another funeral I would not go elsewhere.

My family have just recently used B. Mathews Funeral Services, situated in Middle Road, Park Gate. I must say that we are very pleased with their services and glad that we chose them to conduct our father's funeral. Lisa and her team were very caring, helpful and professional throughout.

B Matthews recently performed the funeral for my late husband Brian. We visited the Park Gate branch and spoke with Lisa who was excellent throughout. Lisa firstly spoke with my youngest daughter to book the consultation, then met with us as a family to discuss plans and find out who my husband was as a person. Her kind manner on the phone and then in person really made us feel at ease.
Lisa was keen to find out who Brian was to ensure his funeral was as personalised and special as possible. She was very warm, trustworthy, honest, and not least of all, funny - he would have liked her! Her ability to easily get a feel for Brian’s personality enabled her to match us with the perfect celebrant, Gareth, whose eulogy was excellent – hilarious and witty, with just enough “fluffiness” to ensure it was funeral appropriate. She was also more than happy to sit with us while we went back and forth about the Order of Service. None of the examples seemed to "fit" Brian's personality but when my youngest daughter suggested "Why don't we do sweets?!", it just made sense and Lisa assured us this could be done. Lisa made sure the Order of Service was absolutely perfect before it went to print. Each suggestion she made regarding arrangements when we were stuck for ideas was on point, and showed she had really listened to us and grasped who Brian was.
From the beginning Lisa was attentive, respectful, and warm, which was also matched by the wider team. She was thoughtful and very attentive, taking note of even the smallest details. Lisa really looked after Brian while he rested with them in Park Gate - talking to him daily, playing him 80's music and Christmas songs and spraying his favourite deodorant each morning. Brian was truly in safe hands.
We felt able to communicate our needs easily; nothing was too much trouble. Lisa was happy to accommodate visits and remembered all the little things that made Brian who he was. She lightened the load considerably during a time of much anguish.
Speaking of visiting, Lisa was also brilliant with my two granddaughters, both 14 years old. She spoke to them with ease and a sense of respect that helped them feel included, while still protecting their fragility at such an age. Lisa even managed two younger relatives (7 and 5), providing answers to their questions but not going into detail, all without missing a beat.
The wider team were second to none. We met Neil, Tim, and Wayne all of whom were kind and respectful. They were also hilarious, personable and thought outside the box. So much so, that they added a little flourish to the coffin involving my husband’s wooden parrot, which just fitted his personality to a “T”! They kept us smiling through the tears and the day went off without a hitch due to their efforts. My younger brother used to work for a separate funeral directors and Neil was more than happy to allow him to be pall bearer at the last minute. We really appreciated this as it allowed my brother to do “one last thing” for his brother-in-law.
Lisa has continued to support us through our grief and we are eternally grateful.
We highly recommend B Matthews in your time of need. They are truly fantastic.
