We bought a new set of Dreadnought furniture for a 6 room student let in the summer of 2019, for a cost of £2800. Within a couple of months some of the drawers had started collapsing and coming off the runners. Geoff, the proprietor came out a couple of times to fix them, albeit complaining. But at the end of this academic year, August 2020, I am having to spend several days replacing runners (costing over £100) which I have bought myself, as well as spending £98.10 on timber to 'beef up' these rather fragile units. It was a mistake buying them and I regret it. At this stage I am hoping they will last another year, but not sure.

Three items ordered on Monday, delivered today as promised, all assembled, no fuss. Recommended and thank you.

I ordered £2.5K of furniture back in February at which time I was advised that the furniture would be available in a month. This timescale was accepted. Three months later the furniture arrived, some with minor scratches etc from how he had loaded it into his van, which weren't too bad. However, on headboard of a bed the wood was split so the owner glued it and tried to hide it. Both the split wood and glue line (over glued) are obvious and not what you would expect from a 'new bed'. When challenged about this he begrudgingly arranged to order a new headboard. Several more weeks passed and we still hadn't heard from the owner. On calling him to chase the replacement headboard he advised that he had the headboard in stock but that he wasn't going to make a journey to replace the damaged furniture as he had no other calls booked in in the area. I advised that I was happy to wait a little while but when I questioned a date further he couldn't even specify a 'month' of when he would do it - all I wanted was for him to commit to something. When questioned further he tried to tell me that the mexican pipe furniture was supposed to be distressed and that there was nothing wrong with it. He then advised that nobody ever complains about the quality of the furniture he sells and hung up! Lessons learnt: Do not accept the dates that the owner provides (despite Covid) and god help you if you ever have an issue with anything as his customer care skills are non-existent! I have advised the owner that I will applying to take him through the small claims court. The funny thing is that if he had just replaced the defective head board (as he should have) then this review wouldn't be required.

I wasn't going to mention the other minor items which we had issues with but we also had issues with small scratches on drawer faces (caused by the manner in which they were stored in transit) which he 'painted in' with repair paint and wardrobe doors that still wont close properly. He tried to blame our floor not being level but on checking it with a spirit level it is fine - perhaps this is warped as well?! I have tried to adjust the hinges myself but they don't really adjust far enough - and still catch on the top or bottom.
