Formal gardens mostly laid out on Blitz destroyed Old Change Street aside St.Paul’s and repurposed as formal gardens for the Festival of Britain in 1951.
Subsequently remodelled and landscaped.
A tepid terraced wall-fountain and a line of immaculately manicured and pleached lime trees among the main features here. Colourful bedding, plants, shady trees, lawn, ample seating, statues and sculptures.
Despite the unquestionably salubrious setting and the impeccable maintenance this is neither particularly evocative nor a truly exceptional showcase for gardening prowess.

Really well presented and well maintained gardens with lot's of colour. Great place to chill out and watch the hassle and bustle of London. There are plenty of places to sit and can normally find some shade.

This is completely subject to the weather but the garden was completely covered in snow and the views of Saint Paul's were the best. Just beautiful, charming and magical. Like in a fairy tale.

The Festival Gardens were the Corporation of London's contribution to the Festival of Britain. The place used to be the Old Change, a street dating from 1293, as you can see in a plaque. Multilevel garden with a sunken wall fountain, which was a gift of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners. The garden is perfect to rest and admire St. Paul's Cathedral.
