This is my closest service station; if it weren't, I would avoid it at all costs. I've been a regular customer for years, and had no problems with it until about the last year. There is one particular member of staff (new manager?) whose behaviour is less than professional towards certain customers. Only one (the other staff are fine), but it is enough to completely sour the experience.
I am an adult, with various 'invisible' difficulties - 'invisible' meaning I do not require a wheelchair, but I do look obviously different. One of these is a complex speech and language disorder, and another a moderately severe physical disability resulting in poor motor skills and lack of coordination. In the numerous times I've been served by this woman, her demeanour changes drastically: with most other customers, she is personable; with me, she immediately changes to rude and surly. She also has a habit of staring at me when she sees my car arrive.
I initially thought I was being paranoid, so I asked a few friends to observe the interactions and the staring, all of whom confirmed my suspicions.
Another friend, who visited the shop independently of my request, reported the same staff member standing around in the middle of the shop, holding a conversation with a customer, in no rush to move or serve anyone. According to my friend, the staff member also had a trolley beside her, further impeding customers' way around the shop. When the woman finally remembered she had a job to do, she made it quite clear it was an imposition, both my friend and the other customers bearing the brunt of it. Apparently, all the meal deals were labeled incorrectly, too, for which no apology or explanation was offered. Although this is second hand information, I have no reason to doubt my friend's sincerity.
This kind of behaviour towards customers is unacceptable. Despite the additional cost, I will be switching to a service station further away.
The staff are friendly, honest and very knowledgeable, they've done amazing jobs every time I've gone in
