ESSO MFG MERSTHAM

It's a standard, modern, 6 pump petrol station with the usual attached express shop and kiosk, compressed air (at 50pence) and water service. Has a free cash machine but no car wash or advertised toilet facility.
Located at Town End, Caterham. Gives Tesco Points for petrol purchases.
Prices are usually average for the area. Seldom if ever does it have cut price occasions but is always popular for refueling

Only 500 metres away so go there all the time. Staff are really helpful especially Masters. Lowest prices always for this area. Sell a multitude of items especially the hot, hotdogs which are available all day, but they do have an high demand so get there early
.

Good for petrol and many groceries also has gas bottle exchange. But, much to my chagrin, they are not accepting collect+ drop-offs. This also applies to the Gatton Point filling station; I had to dock a couple of stars. Still, it is a great place to fill up pre/post M25.

Just to confirm they aren't open 24 hours a day! they close at 9pm. At least during this Cov 19 pandemic. Be warned, if you are returning a Collectplus+ parcel, they won't hold the parcel overnight for collection the next day, so take your parcel there early in the morning to be collected the same day and make sure you ask for a receipt.

At this time of (mind numbingly ridiculous) filling station chaos, the staff at this ESSO have gone above and beyond to ensure things run as smoothly as possible. The older gentleman deserves to be singled out for high praise; he has been out on the road keeping people informed and directing to them to pumps to ensure chaos didn't ensue. I hope his bosses see my comments and he is rewarded accordingly for his efforts. Whatever other faults people have found with this site, under the current circumstances, the staff have been superb.

This guy's at late night prefer to keep cleaning the coffee machine and makes wait the customer more than 30 minutes than just open the petrol bay and take your payment that only takes 1 minute. When you knock the window the guy do like he is not listening nothing. Absolutely stupid behaviour and pretty unkind...

The man who works there is nice enough but it is listed as somewhere that does Collect + but I’ve tried 3 times over the last year and every time ‘it isn’t working’ the latest reason is because of covid, not sure why that would affect this service but there we go. If they can’t be bothered with it or it doesn’t work so often then they should really get themselves taken off the service list, as it is a real pain to have to find the next closest one when I’ve got a young baby with me.

Always well stocked with fuel and Masters is very helpful, friendly and up for a chat.
