Absolutely fantastic food, very reasonably priced for the quality. Good sized portions, not huge but comfortably full after 3 courses and the on the table bread and flavoured butters. Lovely friendly staff very keen to advise on wines to match the food ordered and attentive. Rustic surroundings, with the crockery sourced from a local pottery, the ingredients are also locally sourced..

Had a lovely tasting menu here, food was delicious. Favourites were smokey potato and the honey parfait. Dog-friendly too. Loved the Autumnal Skelton Martini! You can see why they've featured heavily in the Michelin Guide, a top place for Great British date or foodie explorers.

This restaurant is incredible. Well worth thr trip to this beautiful village. They showcase the best of the Lake District using local, season flavours. It is an unassuming location with friendly staff. It is all about the food. Each dish is beautifully presented with flavour combinations that are so well paired. It is clear why they have a Michelin star, the first of many. I cannot wait to go back, and cannot recommend enough.

Delicious food. Impeccable service. Incredible drinks. Try the nutty Skelton cocktail. Delicious. Vegan food was unbelievable. Best Hispi cabbage I've ever had!! Thank you!!

The food was amazing! There was a real range of choice and everything looked and tasted incredible. The staff were so helpful and friendly, talking through the menu and even their suppliers - everything from food to plates. They were really welcoming too. The venue was cosy and really relaxed whilst still quite sophisticated. Tables were well spaced so you didn't feel like you were sat with the people next to you. Prices were also pretty reasonable given the quality.

Had a sublime meal here last week. Old school country pub meets Michelin starred food & fabulous service - what’s not to love. Looks v unassuming from the outside but that’s half the charm. Had the 3 course a La carte menu this time, but plotting a return to try the taster menu…and a soufflé!

Seriously great food!
The place itself is rather unassuming, but the food was absolutely delicious. I had the best cheese soufflé starter I ever tried and a light and tender sole for the main course. My partner tried the rabbit pie which came with a delicious smoky sauce and beautifully cooked venison, but the highlight was the gooseberry soufflée desert, which was totally worth the longer wait (about 20 minutes) and the extra cost!
They also had a great selection of drinks, including some very easy going orange wines and sweet dessert ports.
Definitely worth a visit, but remember to book well in advance.
