Liked: Made to feel very welcomed from the off set. Shown to our pitch by the manager Antony who is a real asset to the campsite/pub, extremely helpful , he was working non stop but always with a smile on his face. Lovely clean site. Food in pub is excellent but would recommend you book ASAP after your arrival as gets booked up. Excellent site for dogs as plenty of nearby walks .

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: It was excellent. Loved it. Staff in pub friendly which was great as I was alone. Loved the push button shower. Flat so no trying to level up as I am new to parking a camper van. Loads of seats outside the pub which meant I could find people if I wanted the buzz but then the site itself was quiet and lovely. Enough space.

Liked: Stayed here several times, and always had a good experience. Staff friendly and take you direct to your pitch. Electricity to pay for, but we found that as there was already £3 left on the meter it was enough for for our 4 day stay. Fully expected to pay around £10 with the high cost of fuel etc, so pleasantly surprised.

Food great as usual. Had the Castle Burger - great.

Outdoor eating/ drinking area is really nice and lit up at night time- nice touch.

Weather was brilliant. So all in all a lovely break.

Bus outside to take you direct into Selby or York. Check the timetable as there has been some changes since April 22.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Other pubs/ sites nearby if you want entertainment.

Liked: Toilet/shower block lovely and clean (well the ladies anyway) we stayed over the bank hol and the site was packed out. The ladies toilet block was kept clean and tidy throughout. The staff are welcoming and friendly

Disliked: Layout and pitch planning, plus loud neighbours and no staff to control them. The site was full when we stayed so we wasn't expecting silence however there was a couple of different groups that were partying late into the night and kept the kids awake. I don't like the layout of the site and it felt like a car park if I'm honest. It would have been better to have the caravans together at the bottom of the site and the campers on the top part for easier access to the toilet block (especially at night) every pitch is both grass and hardstanding which is great for the caravans but again not so great for tents as you loose half of your allocated space. The electric is on pre paid cards, at min spend of £5 which is really steep seeing as we was there 2 nights and used just over £1 on the metre. All in all we had an nice enough time away, the staff are friendly and helpful and the site is clean but it wasn't for us and we'd be unlikely to return. It's geared more toward caravans then tents and feels very penned in when all pitches are full. This was the most expensive site we stayed at over the summer and the one we were least inpressed with.

Nice pub eatery, reasonable menu, friendly staff.
Food good but not spectacular.
The pie was good, asked to order sweets with mains, which seemed strange, we didn't and that was not a problem.
Excellent outdoor seating area, ample parking, good selection of beers, lagers and wines .
Could recommend.

It's been a long time since coming back. Many things have changed the bar and restaurant outside beer garden have all been made over. New electrics on all pitches (which you now have to buy a £5 card,we used £1,70 during our stay) it's advertised as spacious pitches but only big enough for caravan and car or caravan and awning leaving your car in the car park. We had a large family camping next to us in 3 tents with in 4ft of us. The toilets and shower have not altered and were in desperate need of updating 10yrs ago when we last visited so as you can imagine very poor. Unfortunately we will not be returning

Liked: The grounds were lovely.
The restaurant / pub served good quality and tasty food.
The staff very welcoming.
Lovely location especially for Selby town.

Disliked: The toilet blocks. Unfortunately there was only 1 ladies toilet cubical in use of which the seat was not fixed on securely. One of the male urinals was overflowing and the toilet seat was hanging of. Showers only last about 20 seconds per push!
Such a shame because if the toilet blocks were improved it would have got a 5 from us.

Liked: The location was fabulous with easy access to York and The Castle Inn was welcoming with good food.

Disliked: The campsite had a look of almost being forgotten about. The grass was long and none of the fallen leaves had been cleared. The border between hard standing and grass was hard to see due to the amount of leaves. The facilities block was in an awful state. The ladies had only one working toilet and the seat on that was hanging off. The gents had a blocked urinal that was full and the seat on the toilet was also hanging off. The Elsan point was also not good. The flush system was not working and it was unfortunately littered with debris from previous users. It was sad to see what could be such a lovely place so neglected and in such a poor condition. The site was quiet and peaceful until the weekend when the owners of the seasonally pitched caravans arrived and woke us numerous times during the night with shouting, laughing and slamming of car doors. In its current condition and the lack of any thought for other guests from the seasonal pitches it is not a site I would return to or recommend to anyone else.
