Eaten here a handful of times over the years. Definitely best to book a table ahead of your visit.

I'm never disappointed with the food I get, though one time I had a burger that didn't taste right but with no issues it was removed from my bill, so I have no complaints and have been back since.

Tomahawk steak for 2 is what we had on this recent visit, first time since covid and it was good. There has been a price increase for the offer but for what you get with steak and all the sides and sauces it's definitely still reasonably priced.

Served with king prawns, fried mushrooms, chips, sweet potato chips, onion rings, side salad and a variety of mustards and a very good peppercorn sauce. Sauce blew my head off a bit initially but by the end of my meal I was really enjoying it and wished I had more food to finish off the sauce with 🤣

Plenty of food for 2 people. We ordered it originally as medium/rare for my liking but as my partner likes medium/well done we called ahead to alter it to medium, which was no problem at all to the staff. I'd say it was cooked as well done rather than medium but given it was still delicious I have zero complaints. A deposit of £25 is required when booking and deducted from your bill at the end of the meal.

Definitely worth a visit whether for food or a good pint!

Cosy atmosphere.
Good selection of drinks.
Friendly and welcoming staff.
Clean establishment.
Adheres to current regulations.

Lovely little restaurant. Only sits about 9 tables. Called at the last minute and got a table for the 4 of us. All our food was hot, tasty, fresh and delicious. The kids enjoyed the steakpie and pizza. My husband and I had the cajun chicken and vegetarian curry. Staff were friendly and helpful and left us in peace to eat our meal. Toilets are lovely and clean. Bit of a hidden gem. We've all said we'll be back and pop in on the way home from St Andrews next time we're there.

Whilst in Cupar we were looking for a traditional bar lunch and as we had tried The Boudingait in the past ( and liked it) we thought why not. We waited at the door and after a few minutes the server walked by asked if we wanted a table, we did, then told us to wait as she had to clean it first. Ok that's good no-one likes eating at a dirty table. We waited to be taken to the table (as we were still at the door) and then the server left us waiting at the door and disappeared through the back behind the bar. Then reappeared carrying food for another table, then with a nod of the head told us to go and sit down. Now I'm not posh by any means but I do like to be taken to my table. Anyway we sat down and waited and waited and waited and waited, oh here she comes. The server then to our astonishment walked past us and started to serve a group of people who had just walked in and sat down. The kick in the teeth was she took their drinks order!!! So whilst she was grinding the coffee beans behind the bar I reached over and grabbed a menu from another empty table. This seemed to catch the servers eye and she came across to our table." To take your drinks order?" I hear you say, eh no, to give my wife a menu and replace the menu on the other table, then unbelievably she walked away without taking our drinks or food order!!! Now we don't know if she was tired, fed up, didn't like us showing up near the end of her shift ( she left when the other server took over) or was new to serving tables, I honestly don't know, we only asked if there was a table free, which there were several free and only a half dozen people sitting at the other tables so it wasn't that she was overly worked, people are now spending the best part of £50 a couple for a bar lunch and drinks they at least deserve to be treated with some respect. Anyway when the new server ( guy with a beard) took over it was like night and day, he was professional, polite, prompt and well presented. Within minutes of starting he had taken our order, got our drinks and brought out our food a short time after, well done Sir, yourself and the chef saved this from becoming a one star review. The food that we got, steak pie and chips and macaroni ( no fish unfortunately as they had run out) was superb, the meat in the pie was delicious, the chunky chips were cooked to perfection and the macaroni was tasty, both huge portions and at a reasonal price. Apart from the small hiccup at the start it was a really nice meal. Parking can be had directly across the street through the close and into the Bonnygate carpark, short stay, you can get 2hrs here for 70p, payment can be made using Ringo on a mobile app or with coins.

Nice cosy place. Decor inside good but outside needs to be improved to attract people. Didn't eat but some good and varied ales, spirits were on offer. Brighter colours, better signage may help.

Accidentally came across this restaurant… just happened to Google: dog friendly restaurants in Fife… so very glad we found this one! One of the best meals we’ve had in ages. Excellent service. Reasonably priced. We will be back :)
