Having been a patient for over thirty years I can't praise the surgery highly enough. Even during these testing times I have received a prompt, courteous and professional service. I am able to gain access to my doctor ( albeit on the telephone) and feel that all my requests and queries are resolved as efficiently as if I had had a face-to-face consultation. The reception staff are second to none and offer a friendly and reassuring welcome to all.

If you're a university student coming home for summer don't even bother trying to temporarily register here for treatment. My daughter was refused..even though the receptionist had given us a form to fill in and this being her original doctors since childhood! Practice Manager decided that as 1 out of the 2 doctors was in holiday it wasn't possible to accept her..despite us needing an emergency appointment for a back problem. Terrible attitude from reception staff member.Rang a different practice. No problem in accepting her. Got an emergency appointment next day. Thankyou Blundellsands Surgery.

My nan has just been through major surgery and unfortunately can't make it into the surgery at the moment so they were nice enough to send out a nurse practitioner which I appreciated (eventhough it was meant to be a doctor).

However, when the nurse arrived he was in a horrible mood and told her off for calling him out as he believed her concern was invalid. He also told her to stop taking medication prescribed to her due to her surgery "if she doesn't think it's necessary". I which I understand but he did not consult a doctor eventhough she has not had her follow up appointment with the hospital yet and was advised to keep it until then.

This has made her scared to phone the doctor as she feels embarrassed and a burden. Due to the fact that after her surgery she was told there may be many side effects that can be life threatening and to make the doctors aware if there is anything she is concerned about.

I am very disheartened by the way she was treated. I appreciate the surgery and have heard good things about them as a whole but do not appreciate how this staff member treated her.

This GP surgery provides a great service.. I have had a number of appointments this year and booking them is straightforward and easy to do. The receptionists are friendly and very helpful. The ANP (I won't mention by name) has been particularly effective with prompt referrals and great care delivered in a professional courteous way.

The worst experience I've ever had at a GP. At my first appointment at the surgery the doctor was incredibly rude and condescending, she refused to believe I had been waiting 2 months for the appointment (I registered in Sep and had to wait until Nov for an appointment). She berated me for having more than one issue to discuss. I got upset in the appointment and she did not apologise, blaming me for the delay to getting to the issue. She also asked questions about my condition that were worryingly off-beam and made me question her knowledge. Funnily enough she thought my issue might be caused by stress, so I have her to thank for contributing to it! Doctors like her are dangerous because their inappropriate behaviour deters people from seeking the care they need, especially if they have mental health issues or are victims of abuse. I have absolutely no trust in this doctor, disgusted.

I know that there has been a lot of bad press regarding Doctors and their Surgeries but after my recent experience I have to Speak as I find. Firstly I have to thank receptionist Paula, she Listened carefully to the frantic conversation that I was having with her. She then sympathetically and professionally handled the situation and put me at ease. Secondly, a huge Thank you to Doctor Wakeford , I believe the decision he made saved Martins life. I have thanked two people, but this surgery work as a team and my sincere thanks goes out to them all. Liz Mawdsley
