Over Wyre Medical Centre

My local doctors, although trying to get an appointment is like going through an SAS course, this has now improved now they have implemented their new booking system, they are very good and usually once you have your appointment, waiting times are not so bad

Since my wife and I joined this practice, we have been treated with the up most respect, the care and professionalism has been second to none by a dedicated team. Even throughout the building work, when the practice was like a building site, in difficult working conditions the staff rallied round giving the patients their full dedication, advice and care.

Local Health Centre that covers the Over Wyre area. Situated in Preesall the building was renovated and extended a few years ago. There are several GPs registered at the centre, along with nurses and community outreach programs. There is also a pharmacy for prescription items. There is a large car park with wheelchair parking & access.
Appointments are required to access the services - the centre has carried out a huge vaccination program during the COVID Pandemic. Staff are professional, courteous and friendly. Great all round NHS service.

Dr Simpson saved my life. The Doctors at Over Wyre Medical center are all spectacular at what they do. They're doing such a difficult job in difficult times.

My parents of 85 have tried to get an appointment for my father who is having blackouts. They called and then went round in person at the beginning of April to be told the earliest they could see the doctor was in May!!! Are others receiving this sort of service? I'm absolutely astonished that this is the priority they put on elderly and vulnerable people needing help.

Very refreshing to have a GP who listens and communicates well. After years of being dismissed and invalidated it was a shock to feel listened to and taken seriously.

Great nursing/HCA staff as well, and most of the people on reception are really nice and helpful too.

Only sore point is I've had to wait 5 weeks for a "routine" appointment. That's after waiting 3 weeks twice for other appointments. In all, including blood tests, it was 4 months until I received a referral to a specialist and for treatment. I know they're overstretched but being unwell to the point I am unable to participate in my own life doesn't feel so routine to me.

I’ve deleted previous comments. Hopefully this year there will be an improvement within this practice.
* My immense thanks and praise does go to the Pharmacists and the Pharmacy team. They are wonderful and a real credit to the medical centre. They go above and beyond and are always professional and polite. Although I’ve only awarded 3 stars to the medical centre, the pharmacy team deliver a 5 star service. So to them THANK YOU.

truly shocking gp practice, the wife rang these struggling to breath due to chest infection despite being covid clear via pcr test the doctor she spoke still wasnt interested. she had to go to a walk in centre to get antibiotics and has now been taking into hospital with a serious chest infection. you honestly have to question what is the point in gp practice's if there not willing to do there job properly! its about time the public stood up against this negligent care! I will be sendind a formal complaint and I suggest any one else with a bad experience with this place do the same!
